Yes, but only B&W due to the Secam format

While I don't have any personal experience with them, my understanding is that most french TVs are dual standard. You might have to do a composite mod on the console though.

Ah you might have to adjust that little tuning knob inside the VCS, if I remember right.

But what about the sound? If I understand correctly the sound in UK is somewhere else than in continental Europe (Spain, Germany...). I would personally be very careful about buying UK consoles with RF output only.

Sound is fine, you gotta open up the VCS and adjust the knob though.

The other way around will no work, consoles using RF from the continent will not work in UK except when using peritel (Example: Consoles in germany use VHF, UK doesn't have VHF, hence they don't work at all).

BTW, peritel UK to peritel France still gives you a B&W only picture, even though peritel is a French invention

I do have a PAL UK VCS on a French TV. That works 100%. I also have a Portuguese PAL VCS and a Belgium PAL VCS. They work 100% on every French TVs.
French TV are dual PAL+SECAM since 30 or 40 years. (Pure SECAM TV are not sold anymore since the end of 70's).
You can plug the RF PAL VCS on the french TV. Then scan the good band: channel will be found. Colors are here, sound is OK. No need to touch the console's inside.

Wow, interesting.
So when I lived in France in a rented house, the TV provided looked like from the 70s, no wonder I only had B&W picture with my British VCR.
