Our game this round is Keystone Kapers. Play on default settings and may the best "copper" win. Emulation is fine as is whatever control scheme you wish.
Keep up the participation #'s for even more HSC points.

OTHER PORT: ColecoVision - 54,750

OK, here is a current ColecoVision score as I took the other one from a previous CV HSC round...not quite as high, but close...use whichever you want.

This one is interesting. Not too easy to "cheat" using savestates if someone was so inclined. (although obviously no one here does that right?).

I'll be putting in a few plays of this and see how I do. :)

It's kind of a bummer that cheats exist. Super high sores on this game or not common .  This game is quite challenging on the 5200, timing is everything and the game does not play like its 2600 counterpart. .
Always liked this Activision title !

It usually doesn't turn out like that when I take screen shots...don't know what happened. This pic was actually from the CV HSC not too long ago...just too lazy to replay. This game is very frustrating for me because I get to the identical spot almost every time I play and then can't go any further.

Then technically, it doesn't count. ;)

5200 version: 32,700 (I'll attach a pic later).  I remember being better at this game than I am.  I feel like I do okay, I just can't seem to get the points.

I'll fire up the emulator this weekend since I don't have this one on anything but 2600. Can't seem to find that cart around here either. :(

A little bit better today: 48,300:

Once you can't reach the thief by running and you have to use the elevators, I get pretty lost.  The three carts & bombs also tend to get me, although I think I figured those out in this last game.

I decided to avoid the elevator in the 2nd through 4th levels... it helped me some.

I'm stuck with a 0 for 5200 version as none of my Roms will start. They all freeze on level select screen. :(

Did get a pathetic 11,450 on 2600 version though.

I always thought that the black thing that i have to jump over was a landmine or something.
I never knew it was a cathedral radio until i looked at the 2600 manual scan awhile back.
The 5200 version has a weird looking manual. It looks like a very old newspaper.

Yeah, that elevator is too darn slow in this version...at least in the early levels. It seems to speed up a bit later.

Mastering the red balls is really important... Start the game around levels 14-16 and learn a pattern that works for you to get past them.  I haven't yet mastered the fast shopping carts... a player who did so could play for a nice long time.

Catching that elevator to the 2nd floor consistently is important, and worth sacrificing a life for to get the timing right.  Seems to work best for me if you can start a level with the elevator having newly descended from the 3rd floor to the 2nd.

I'll trade ya !  I have everything down but those low bouncing red balls, but i am close :)
I had better get busy before I get run over  :)
