There are two Wing Commander games out there that are FREE and totally fun to play!
1) Wing Commander: Darkest Dawn is a fan made game that was just released a couple weeks ago. It uses the Freespace 2 engine and is designed to look and play like Wing Commander 3. There are two full campaigns included with the game, voice acting, music, and the works. It's set in the time frame as the events of Wing Commander 3, with you playing a new rookie pilot trying to make a difference in the war. I've hardly had a chance to look at this yet, but from what I've seen is very impressive!

2) Wing Commander: Privateer Gemini Gold is a remake of the older game Wing Commander: Privateer, only it's been 'tweaked' to run on moden computers and inside of Windows. It's not new, actually, the last version came out in the closing days of 2009. And it's not 'officialy' completed yet. I've been playing it for a few days, though, and can say it's about 99 percent complete. The game includes everything that was in both Privateer and the expansion Rightous Fire, with all the missions, voices, options, and so on. It also allows you to control the ship with either a joystick, mouse, or keyboard. There's a couple minor bugs that I've seen, and the game doesn't look as 'polished' as it could, but it's damn fun!
