The Colecovision and Vectrex are off to the side -- in the main play area.  The 7800 got squeezed out, unfortunately.  This is a pre-84 ship!

Got some cheapo Lenovo laptop stands for $7 apiece.  A wire easel from Michael's is holding up the Intellivision, and the Odyssey 2 with Voice is just to monumental for any stand.

Love the way you display the systems. Never thought of that, thanks for sharing.

Using laptop stands is a great idea since it definitely makes the consoles stand out! I also like the shelves, very nice. It's giving me some ideas. I need to invest in a bookcase or something and get my consoles out of plastic bins in the closet and on display. :)

Thanks for all of the compliments!  I've never gotten past the idea that I was collecting for display as much as play.  The laptop stands work great, but I wish the words "Notebook stand" weren't embossed on the front.  I'll probably hide them with a table tent with the name of the console.  I've got four more slots below (the bottom slot has canvas bins with controllers and power supplies), but I can't decide whether to put more consoles (Arcadia 2001, 7800, Famicom, 800XL, and 99/4A still need a home) there or CIB games.

Anyway, here's a shot of the whole setup that shows the Vectrex, Colecovision, XEGS, and Intellivision II.  In another thread, I mentioned getting rid of my CRT for an HDTV, and while I prefer the CRT image, I like the way all of this looks together.

Thanks for the pics - the collection is awesome! I'm just realizing that I collect as much for display as I do for gaming. The setup looks super nice. I also have my consoles hooked up to a flat screen, agree they look better on a CRT, but I upgraded my TVs so there are no CRTs around. Good idea, eventually putting the console names on the laptop stands. :)

indeed a nice idea to put the name of the console on the stand, maybe added with date of release en some specs.
did you use a other type of stand for the intellivision?

Yes, I was thinking of making a simple table tent with the name of the console and original release date.

Here are pics of the stands I used.  The Lenovo stand is on the left, and it goes on sale from time to time for $7 shipped (direct from Lenovo).  It's pretty cheaply made, but it works great for consoles.  The wire easel for the Intellivision is on the right.  The front hook holds onto the bottom half of the console case, so you can't even see the stand.  It's about $4 from Michaels.

I realized that many old consoles don't look right on a shelf at eye level (such as the Intellivision and 5200), but they look awesome sitting up a bit.

It's definitely a much better way to show them off! You're right, the Inty for example looks pretty bland just laying flat. ;)
