As a warning anecdote to those shopping the Xbox Live Indie Games marketplace (XBLIG), be careful!  I am the idiot of the day.

Usually I'm pretty careful in queuing up downloads.  I love browsing the Indie marketplace as there are some fun games to be had for cheap.

But last night, I was in party chat and got big time distracted by the group so I accidentally bought Angry Wizards.  DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!!  THIS IS A WRETCHED GAME.  THE PAIN WAS MULTIPLIED BY 3 AS IT COSTS 240 MICROSOFT POINTS.  The game is so poorly designed, it doesn't even have checkpoints or game saves.

I could've put the $3 toward some actually great indie games...  *double argh*

I bet a lot of indie developers got free money because of the marketplace design which cleverly put the "purchase" button as the default button and the "get trial" button as the secondary button.  I've also purchased Groov on a separate occasion by accident as well but at least that game was only $1 and was actually decent as opposed to the horribly bad Angry Wizards.

You should start a digital collection of the "best" indie games. Maybe pick up Baby Maker Extreme next.

I understand your pain... I accidentally bought an XBL Indie game a few days ago.  Luckily, Escape Goat was only a dollar and it's actually pretty fun.

I wish they did it like the android market.  You get 15 minutes to decide if you want a refund.  I have used it many times.

That would be great. I too have bought games "accidently" I snagged Double D Dodgeball a couple years back. That would have been one I'd have gotten refunded in 15 seconds. I was so pissed, 800 points down the drain.

That’s unfortunate. No one should lose money to spam from an indie game – and that’s what it is, SPAM. If experienced gamers and computer users accidentally purchase an indie game, then there’s a user-interface issue. Microsoft should clean this up, but I’m sure they won’t.

You say this as if the majority of indie titles are wonderful and the bad ones are in the minority... ¬_¬

there are a lot of bad games in the indie marketplace.  lots of bad games in any kind of marketplace actually (iOS, Google Play, XBLA, PSN, etc).

but there is A LOT of fun to be had in the indie section as well if you're willing to explore it...

cool puzzle/physics game

neat shmup with the ability to literally modify your ship by drawing on it

awesome twin stick shooter that pulses to your music and the changes the gameplay based on the music

a great physics platformer

an awesome clone of Blockout

a platformer using voxels

a cool parkour game

that's only a small sample of some great ones out there...

It's pretty great.  We'd hooked up our online-capable 360 a couple weeks ago to play Rock Band, and I wound up playing Escape Goat for almost two hours instead.

We used to have to play No Luca No a lot.

Except it wasn't a game.
