Hi there!

This one's probably also a worthy contender for "Hardest NES Game" it seems. At least I've yet to beat the 5th level - even with unlimited continues ;)

Greetings,
Manuel

It's a great game.  Overlook the fact it's based off a kids comic strip and it's a challenging and fun romp.

With no passwords I remember leaving the NES on for several days trying to beat it. :)

The game mechanics are a little odd and take a minute to get used to, what with the animal "helpers" and whatnot.  Reminds me a lot of Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt.  I usually get frustrated before I get stymied by the difficulty.

This game was Ridiculously hard considering it seemed to be aimed at 7-11 year olds. I remember my friends older brother owning at that game, it was so much fun to watch him play, he made it all look so easy. I start to get frustrated at that damned level where you have to ride the ape up a snake infested tree.

Perhaps the animated film would be more memorable than the original comic strip:

The game is one of my favourites on the NES but I have never finished it either.

It's defentily a tough game, but beatable....I did it as a kid back in the day, after leaving the system on for several days, as I mentioned eariler. :)  Capcom sure knew how to make them in the 80's and early 90's, that's for sure.  I also have to wonder just what kind of group the game was aimed at, as it's too tough to be a kids game and yet cause of it's orgins retains the 'kiddy and cartoon' feel.

That's good to hear! I finally made it through the 5th level today and in a roll also had 6 and 7 finished quite fast. Next roadblock seems to be that nasty penguin boss. I think I hit it 12-15 times once and yet it still beat me in the end.

It's one of the better NES games, IMO.

It's also completely hard, and was the cause of many angry nights when I was little.

It presents itself like Megaman (Go figure, because it'sCapcom), and looks all kid-friendly.

and then, you get your ass handed to you repeatedly while trying to climb trees and burrow through dirt.

I got a bit sidetracked the last couple of days, so yes - the NES is still on ;)

I'm in the final level already now, which is separated into 3 sections as far as I know. The 1st is quite managable, but the 2nd has been the hardest part of the game so far. I've only made it to the third part twice, so I can't comment much on it yet.

I'm indeed very close now. The 3rd section of level 8 is easier again, especially since I fully worked it out, so I'm facing the final boss already. First three matches he won though... ;)

Edit: Epic boss battle, I finally won the 5th time I got there! :D

This is what I'm talking about, for those who got the game through...  "digital distribution".

Not sure why you're implying that I'm playing a pirate copy. Here's a scan of my box:

Because it's extremely common, and is easily inferred from your post's winking smiley face.

Oh yeah! Check out the Descendants of Erdrick & their Little Nemo cover here.  Dunno about the Amazon sample, but the full song has the tunes from the first & final stages.
