[Reaperman]

GT academy 2012 is on.  It's a free download as before, and you have the chance to collect prizes including the chance to be on their stupid reality TV show and become a race car driver.  Most will win GT5 in-game content.

Weeks 1 & 2 are currently available for play, with more unlocking as the contest continues.  I believe the 'friends' leaderboard is a new addition this year.

I'm not as big of a Gran Turismo fan anymore, but I do think this contest is a pretty cool idea.  From what I've been hearing, previous winners are doing pretty well and seem to have solid racing careers ahead of them.
