HSC Round 4.35: Memorial Day Tournament

Just use your own judgment. If it feels wrong it more than likely is.

Like a previous post had stated, there is a way to stack up on free men in Ghosts N Gobs. You find a precise spot on the 3rd board and move your joystick side to side as quick as possible. It must have something to do with triggering the rise of a zombie. An insane amount of zombies will appear from the ground and you can actually get over the 70000 required to get a free man. If you do this long enough, you will find yourself with many, many men. Is that cheating?

Well, I know a good way of getting around something like that(especially in a tournament, when 10 games are at stake). Why don't we encourage folks to reveal any obvious point pressing tactics that programmers have left in the games out there?

For example

Everyone knows robotron 2084, right? At the end of the fifth board, leave as many brains on the board that you can, and have them as high on the screen as possible. Let them walk to the far right, while you "camp" in the bottom right hand corner while shooting up. You could let it go for infinity and have the record in the entire world. (This is the red label, the blue label corrected that bug.)But come on, who other than Steve Sanders, would actually feel good about themselves after cheating?

Another example

In Kangaroo, you can punch the monkey till youre blue in the face. Is that a test of skill? Far from it. I think that is exploiting a weakness in the program of the game.

Honour system is now in place. All problems are solved this way

So... which approach are you advocating?

Do it in Kangaroo all you like, just don't do it in public.

Prior comment just in response to all the "camping" talk lately, that's all.

SMART ASS!!

Don't make me split you two up :lolblue: I like point pressing. I really do. I don't even mind point press against the clock. I kinda enjoy that. I did it for 5 hours straight once :P But do you really want to burn off 120 secs three times on the 1st level of GnG when there's 9 other games to play? That's the only reason I am saying lets forget about it. Your call. Seems most people are against it on this title.

yes ... with point pressing, but I did not kill myself just to get more points. I got kill by the first boss most of the time.

I think I know how to get him know, by getting directly below his head and shooting up.

I mostly point press in the second portion of the level on the on the top hill near the hanging pole. (see pink dot in image below)

Basically you are in between two "roots" and you shoot righ and left. If you want to do that make sure that you have at least 45 seconds left if you want to have time to get to the boss and kill him.

Wow :-o . I couldn't find any good points areas in that area. I guess I didn't look hard enough. I found a couple of other decent places elsewhere, but nothing that would take me that high. The Twin Galaxies record is over a million, which I don't get at all. There's no way to live through the 3rd stage on one credit.

(Incidentally, I think I smashed the Twin Galaxies record on Klax last round, but the score they had up there was really lame. There's no way mine was the highest of all time. I'm sure the highest would be in the multi-millions. Many of the scores on Twin Galaxies are pretty lame, unless it's a big name game like Donkey Kong, of course.)

You will find better scores on MARP than on TG: http://replay.marpirc.net/r/klax

Well, i would have been top 10. I know I could push it even further with more practice and a lot of luck.
