s41793
Today I got my first light sixer. I opened the console to clean it, and noticed the console says "Property of Atari Inc. Sunnyvale CA 94086" on the upper case. Do all light sixers have this? There is also no serial number on the bottom of the console.

Ataritard
Interesting. It may have had a sticker on the bottom at one time, but I have never seen that on the inside before. Thanks.
bikeguychicago
It could have been a lab or test machine. Who knows?
mikey.shake
Crazy... I JUST bought a Sixer that has the same thing, and I've been trying hard to find answers on the same question! I actually realized something was strange when I noticed the pic in THIS THREAD that had the orange marking on the bottom. (I referred to this pic/thread in my inquiry.) Mine had the same thing (before I stupidly washed it off thinking it was just a crayon accident from the past 25 years). The fact that the one in this thread has no sticker, "Property Of Atari, Inc" hot stamp, and the SAME orange squiggle where the serial sticker should be is evidence me that my weirdo console is not unique. I've posted a little about it in two other threads... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/235878-light-sixer-property-of-atari-inc/?hl=%2Blight+%2Bsixer&do=findComment&comment=3191120 http://atariage.com/forums/topic/236496-orange-mark-mystery-on-light-sixer/ I opened it up the other day and noticed that it had different colored markings ALL OVER the interior (relatively speaking) that I guess I'd missed before. I can only guess that this is some QC checkout-line mark-off process, but it's one that I've never seen the likes of in any other console I've examined. (None of my other 3 have anything resembling this.) It seems like overkill for any old VCS, and this one has that curious hot stamp. Does anyone have any reference for 1) what these colored markings mean, 2) whether it's related to that "Property of..." stamp (it's GOTTA be, right?), and 3) if either of these gives any indication where it these units may have been made? No serial sticker on bottom of unit Stamped on casing - “470” ("47th wk”/1980 = Nov. 17th - 23rd) Taped Paper on shielding: 99 70600219 Nov 14 1980 (A Friday. Likely assembled after the weekend, case is stamped w/following week.) Green Side of Board: C012173 Rev. B Stamped on interior top of casing: L&W G C010307-A Property Of Atari Inc. Sunnyvale, CA 94086 - Channel Select hole/switch on the bottom. - Speaker slits Edited March 27, 2015 by mikey.shake
