while she isn't a character... Brenda Garno, of Wizardry fame, is a pretty predominant female.  Not to mention, in Wizardry and all of the games like it, you can be female.

I don't get this foo-foo women are underrepresented crap.

It's what happens when dumbass Western gamers sit on the internet too long and only watch the crap you see on Gamestop/IGN.   The western worlds "pop gaming" coverage only covers like 4 games:  Assassins Creed, Halo, Gears of War, and Uncharted.

oh, and God of War.

Between the Atelier, Ar Tonelico, and Hyperdimension Neptunia game series' releases... and all of the other RPGs that barely get talked about....

id say chicks are represented fine.  The games I just mentioned are female-centric.  There are other games just like it.  I play them all the time!  I don't care if I am some teenage/early 20s chick running around in a dress casting spells, as long as the game is sweet.

How about Valkyria Chronicles?  Your main character is female.

Valkyrie Profile is balls-to-the-wall female centric.  Lenneth could kick the crap out of any of the dudes represented in games.

Then you have Tomb Raider.  Lara Croft is certainly cooler than that Uncharted toolbag.

How about Beyond Good and Evil?  Fear Effect?

Perfect Dark!

Street Fighter!

Guilty Gear, Dead or Alive...

You aren't a chick in Deus Ex 3, but there are main-character chicks to deal with.

You can be a girl in Skyrim.  Diablo 3.

Heck, the best character in D2 was a chick (Sorceress)

theres a ton more.   There are female character options in other games too like Contra.  Tons of games have girls in the front seat.

So, It's not that they are underrepresented.  It's that people are stupid and don't pay enough attention.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go continue playing Gravity Rush.....
