I'm using AspeQt with SIO2PC-USB MKII on an 800XL and am running into some problems. It seems that half the games I try to play will not work at all. Most of them will load up and just display garbage on the screen, which I cannot seem to get past. Other problems include a Stealth rom not running because it says I need at least 48k memory and Montezuma's Revenge, where it loads the first level, but the characters are replaced with huge vertical bars that take up the entire height of the screen. I have the handshake method set to DSR and I set the high speed mode baud rate to 19200, but it didn't seem to help. The computer I'm using is running Windows 7 64, but I also tried using another computer with Vista 32, but it still did the same thing.

The other games I played seem to run just fine. I was able to get Frogger, two different versions of Pac-Man, 3D Pac, Atari Invaders, Ghostbusters, and a few others to run without any problems.

I don't think this has anything to do with AspeQt.

How do you load the games?  Bootable ATR's?  Files loaded from DOS?  Game menu?  Usually you need to hold option while booting to disable the internal BASIC.

I got the games working by skipping BASIC. Thanks.
