rhindlethereddragon
How does the Famicom version of SPACE INVADERS stack up to previous versions of the game? After all, we've had some EXCELLENT VERSIONS of Space Invaders well before it appeared on the Famicom. Off the top of my head, we've got: AVENGER (Commodore 64) - Wow... this was the arcade experience at home!! VIC AVENGER (Vic 20) - Ditto! TI INVADERS - More than adequate !!!!! SPACE INVADERS - Atari 5200 (Not very faithful as the above mentioned). SPACE INVADERS (Atari 2600) - ditto. SPACE ARMADA - ditto, but an amazing game in it's OWN RIGHT.. OK, so in your opinion, how does the famicom version "stack up" to it's predicessors? Does "Avenger" trounce the Famicom/NES version? Or does the Famicom version supercede them ALL?? NE146
I honestly have never played the Commodore ports, nor the TI port. But as much as I enjoyed the 2600/5200 versions of the game, the honest truth is they were pale shadows of the arcade game. This isn't necessarily a negative, they were still great games. But aside from the basic concept, they missed much of the subtleties of the arcade game entirely. But then again, so did the Atari 8-bit version of Donkey Kong and that is an incredible game which I gladly play along with the original arcade game. Now I want to try out the Commodore ports to form an opinion.. they certainly look the part.

+GameGirl420
I have a copy of TI Invaders. Thinking about playing it again soon. It is a very good version of Space Invaders. Never played the Famicom version although I'm interested.
