Using a 15th anniversary Street Fighter arcade stick housing, 4/8 way adjustable Sanwa stick, new Sanwa buttons, side mounted Sanwa pinball buttons.  So far the board for Xbox/PSone/PS2/360 is working.  I just have to solder the side pinball buttons, and the 360 home button.  I used a madcatz wired fighting pad pcb for that part.

I need help finding a detailed diagram of where the Jaguar controller pcb leads go to.  Its very confusing and I can't get it to work.  I'm trying to wire both the rotary controller and the thumb pad.  I've got the Chaos reigns rotary wired up but I can't figure out wherre the buttons should be as the D pad is seperated into halves.  Also I'm trying to wire the ABC buttons but can't find where to wire them.

Does anyone who's worked on the Jag controller can give me a detailed drawing, pic, schematic of where the wires would get soldered so I can use wires to the Sanwas buttons.

thanks

There are schematics of the Jaguar controller here, but I don't know if someone ever documented how the two PCBs are connected to each other. But that shouldn't be too difficult to find out using a multimeter.

IIRC there are two different versions of the standard controller, with different PCBs.

You might find that a bit tricky. While most controllers use a single common wire connecting all the inputs, the Jaguar has four common lines, each connecting to six of the buttons, and then to six return lines.

It might be tricky connecting them to the same connectors as the other boards at the same time. My advice would be to use a stackable rotary switch to redirect the buttons between each of the boards.

Yikes this is way more complicated that rewiring the 360 controller.  :(

Looks like my custom Tempest controller will be kaput.  Was hoping someone had an actual pic of their modded controller so I could just follow the dots.  LOL

Thanks for the reply guys.

Basically I just want to use a rotary and a joystick and be able to swap between the two.  And the ABC buttons wired to some Sanwa buttons that all the other PCBs use right now.

I'll leave the number pad intact and am actually molding it into the front of the joystick so no wiring need for those.

What's the wiring for the Pro controller? All I've seen are schematics for the regular one.

It's exactly the same, the extra buttons just map to various buttons on the num-pad, so for those buttons, add an extra button in parallel.

Thanks! I had been wondering about that.

Would anyone like to do this for me under contract?  I'd pay you nicely to help me finish this.

Is there any way to get a track ball to work with Jag?

None.

Depending on how it was connected, the horizontal axis might work for Tempest 2000, but that's not the best way to connect a trackball to a Jaguar.

The only things that I know that will work with a trackball so far are those written to support a mouse (Matthias' stuff - you'd need to build an adapter and use a trackball matching the chosen mouse specs, such as using my ST trackballs - a modified 2600 trackball or a "The Best Trackball". These can apparently be used with Impulse X when set to 'ST Mouse' and there's a test proggy on his site).

Would be interesting to find out if anyone wrote anything else to support these.

Ah yes I had forgotten about that.

Yeah, well one is a test proggy and the other isn't released yet, so maybe they don't count ;-)

If you have a three-button roller style mouse it may make for an interesting option though.

Perhaps not, but at the same time he's not likely to modify the code to use the techref-suggested method for encoded input. Bus mice put a lot of strain on the input handling code and the processor running it, and are not very flexible in terms of sensitivity.

What you need is a mouse like the Genesis/Saturn mouse. A few bus cycles once per frame and you have the mouse deltas and buttons.
