Rev
These dont come up very often. But you will have to buy the whole to get it, but you would have stuff to trade or re-sell. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 120968424192

Rev
Wow, checked my collection - yep, I have both box styles for Burgertime! I dont remember, but do you have The white international burgertime and the french canadian version? So you have the gatefold, but do you have the regular box style Mattel AND the INTV versions? If I remember right, there is 5 different Burgertime variations.

+Rick Reynolds
2 is fine, really how many burgertimes does one person need? Yeah, that's where I'm kind of collector-lite. A large motivation for my collecting was to have decent instruction booklets and overlays in order to play the games. Having a complete collection was sort of a side-effect for me. Once I can play the game more or less like it was intended, I usually don't bother trying to get lots of variants - unless they are gameplay variants. I was very excited to get the 8K Lock-n-chase rom, for instance. So how many of each game do I need? Really only one... I only play one at a time... I was very excited to get the 8K Lock-n-chase rom, for instance. By "ROM" do you mean the .rom file (as distributed on Intellivision Lives IIRC), or do you mean an actual 1980s cart with the "collapsing hat" Lupin? If the latter, that's news to me -- I'd been told the 8K ROM never made it to an actual cart.
+Rick Reynolds
I mean a .ROM file. I wasn't aware that the 8K version was on Intellivision Lives, I thought that one was the original non-collapsing-Lupin version. But in any case, I had read about that version of the game and definitely wanted to play it. It was included in David Harley's CC3 ROM pack. The writeup on the game on the BSR website says that it was, and you would think the people who made the game BITD would know.

My memory on that one could be (and probably is) incorrect. I have the CC3 ROM pack too -- I should give the 8K version a spin on real hardware sometime. Just curious as to where you'd heard that the 8K version of Lock N' Chase never got released. The writeup on the game on the BSR website says that it was, and you would think the people who made the game BITD would know. Unfortunately, I don't remember who told me that. I was keeping my eyes open for it, as I acquired doubles of LNC -- but when I mentioned that to whomever-it-was, I was told that it never made it to cart, contrary to the BSRs' claims. I don't think there's ever been a confirmed cart copy found of the 8K version; the Decle site (now down?) had no luck finding a copy. SoulBlazer
Actually, going back and reading what they said now, there is some vagueness in it -- it says the carts WOULD be made, but never actually says they MADE it to market: "When the game was released, press and customers complained about how difficult it was to control Lupin. (You had to time turns precisely, or Lupin would stop dead.) The problem was considered bad enough that a running change was ordered: after the 6K cartridges were sold out, improved 8K versions would be released. By this time, Mike had transferred to the Design & Development department, so Julie Hoshizaki was assigned to make the improvement. The improved versions aren't marked on the package; the easiest way to tell if you have an improved version is to watch what happens when a cop catches Lupin. In the arcade game, Lupin collapses into his hat -- an animation there wasn't room for in the 6K version. The collapsing animation is in the 8K version." bikeguychicago
I was going through my games earlier today and realized that I now have 4 different versions of Centipede (Intellivision, 2600, 5200 and 7800) besides the original version on my MAME cabinet. I suppose I could increase that count to 6 versions if I included the Atari collections I have for Dreamcast and PSP (I don't have the remake on DC... yet).
