Rainbow 2.2 Atari Emulator released

Hi all,

 

New features for version 2.2:

 

- improvements to video timing

- Bennet tables implemented for DMA timing

- mid-scanline timing fix (e.g. Fast Eddie, Silly Things demo, Master of the Lamps)

- 6502 store timing fix

- VSCROL fixed

- VDELAY fixed

- player & missile colours fixed for GTIA modes

- "Share Joystick fpr Player 2" menu item added (share a single joystick for 2 players, playing alternately)

- PIA memory repeat added

- PIA fixes for DCRs and data registers

- menu option to turn on/off console speaker

- SIO disk fixes

- sound restored when window gets focus

- more trace info for CPU, SIO, PIA and display options

- scanline ruler added

- CONSOL read fixed for 5200 (Xari Arena ok now)

- 20% faster than v2.1

I don't want to ask a stupid question but how do you configure a joystick to be used for the 5200 in your emulator?

- CONSOL read fixed for 5200 (Xari Arena ok now)

It's been a whlie since I last worked on Atari800xlbox but if I remember correctly I think correcting the CONSOL read also fixes some issues with some other 5200 games as well.

 

I think that pole position, missile command, and possibly pengo? Don't slip into "trackball" mode.

Had tried an older version long ago and just downloaded 2.2.

 

I guess the big question is, what's the deal with the keyboard?

 

I mean, I don't really want to hit Shift-2 on my PC keyboard to get a double-quote, even if that is how you do it on a real Atari 8-bit.

 

Can't we have an option to use a translated keyboard? I didn't see the source or I'd jump in and just do it...
