Are there any problems working the Harmony Cart with something like this?

Other than Millipede, what other games won't run?

For those who haven't seen the compatibility list for the 2600 carts here's the link...

http://kennedy.greg..../fb2compat.html

With regards to the Harmony Cart, as you said Milipede isn't compatible, however it is included in the built-in games. I haven't had the time to test every game on the Harmony Cart, but I have yet to play a game that is marked compatible on this list that doesn't play on the Harmony Cart. However, I have found some of the games listed as incompatible on this list that are in fact compatible when played thru the harmony cart, for example H.E.R.O. If anybody has a specific game they would like tested, I would be more than happy to try it out and let you know what I find.

This is very nice looking indeed. I have no idea what to offer on a custom job like this. Anybody have a clue what the value on this is?

Because of the amount of time it took to figure out the design and effort in cutting, placing and mounting the cartridge guide (we had read that some people complained of a front loading cartridge guide feeling loose, so we wanted to be sure this one is rock-solid...and it is!), I would accept something in the range of $125.00. I'm also willing to consider trades...For example, I recently purchased a 5200 and would be interested in trades for any accessories for that system (i.e. flashcart, trak-ball, re-built joysticks, additional games, etc).

Then why not list this at $125 and avoid the conversation about what kind of offer to make on a custom item?

I'm no economics major, but cost certainly has a bit to do with demand. I didn't list this at a set price because I was curious what the demand would be. With items like these, I enjoy doing them when I find the time, but if I was to ask the amount of money required to make it worth my time then nobody would ever buy them. As I said, I do enjoy doing them but I only need one for myself so my hope is to pass these items on to somebody who either lacks the ability or the time to do these sorts of things themself. Also, I'm realistic about what others will pay, especially for an item that is a novelty at best and isn't compatible with the entire 2600 library, but sometimes my realism give's way to cynicism and I tend to sell myself short. So... that's why I asked for offers. Also, I said that I would be willing to accept trades so I didn't feel a high priority to place a monetary value on this mod. I read another thread shortly after I posted this where there was a similiar complaint; I didn't realize that putting a make an offer item in the marketplace was frustrating to some. My apologies.

Edit: Also, I read that some people were concerned with offending others with offers that are too low. For me personally, I wouldn't take a low offer as a slight against me but rather what you personally think the item is worth; not what my time is worth. In the end, I'm just thankful for the kind words that people have had to share and that anyone takes any interest in what I'm doing at all. I'm done rambling now, honest.

Fair enough. When it comes to "make an offer" threads there are normally two groups for them. Make an offer because someone may offer more than I want for it, or make an offer becasuse I don't know what it's worth. It is very hard to make an offer on custom hardware because there is normally no established market value for these things. So people are going to have a hard time making an offer on this item.

I'm willing to bet you would have declined an offer under $125 and been more then happy to take any offer over without mention that $125 would have gotten in. That is the reason people don't like "make an offer" threads.

The best way to do this would have been to list it at $125, and say you would take trades as well.

All this said, its nothing personal just one of those things.

That's not exactly true in my case. With an item that I can reproduce with readily available components my price is more flexible depending on the number of people interested and the availability of those items. The more of an item that I make the more proficient I become obviously, so that proficiency can be passed on at a lower price, but without the interest the point becomes moot. Nobody has contacted me directly about this item so I would've assumed there wouldn't be much interest for me to make more; that being said I would've definitely taken more than the stated amount if it had been offered, who wouldn't? I don't feel as though I would be gouging anyone considering the time spent accomplishing this mod was likely over 10 hours, plus factor in the cost of the unit along with a new connector from Best Electronics (I believe that a number of you know the hoops that you have to jump through to complete an order from there) and a cartridge guide that came from a dead six switch board. For the future though, I will take note of the general dislike of these types of posts here and simply not offer them.

I think you took this in the opposite direction than was intended.

I think that $125 is a reasonable price. If I may, HG probably meant that, had you simply stated that in the first place:

A) You may have already sold this

B) if nothing else, I guarantee you would have gotten more interest.

"Make an offer" just turns people oiff, for whatever reason.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, wants to cheapen the hard work you put into this - it's really, really good work.

Just announce a price and stick with it. Your work appears to be worth it. :)

I appreciate your input! May I ask your guys' advice on how I should go about changing this thread? Would you recommend I edit the current thread to state the $125 price tag or should I start a new thread in the marketplace? I haven't spend an abundent amount of time on the forums, so I may need a little coaching to get it right! :)

If you were a subscriber I would just tell you to edit the first post. Alas you are not so you can't edit that far back. At this point I'm pretty sure all the major players on the board know you are selling this, and probably know what you would take for it. Let it roll, or start a new thread for it, either way should really be ok.

Sounds good and thanks for the advice! We'll let it ride; $125 it is then with free shipping to the continental US. That includes the modded Flashback 2 with the AC adapter if you want or need the controllers you can add them for $5 a piece. I'm still open to trades if anyone wants to go that route and my interests are vast so let me know what you got, maybe we can work something out.
