ColecoFan1981
Do you folks believe that Coleco could have released an Adam Super Game DDP version of Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator? I personally think so, for after you get Game Over in the form of "SIMULATION COMPLETED," there would be a high score screen that plays the whole Star Trek (The Original Series) theme song (by Alexander Courage), rather than just the final strains of said theme song from the cartridge version. I know Coleco did release both cartridge and DDP versions of another Sega arcade game, Buck Rogers: Planet of Zoom, and Zaxxon. ~Ben Edited November 17, 2012 by ColecoFan1981
LynxVGL
I think another improvement would be different rotation sprites for the Klingon Cruisers. Having the one rotation is the only failing of this great CV port. And no speech synthesis.
NIAD
Coleco may have eventually revisited the Star Trek game and considred making an improved Super Game especially seeing as they had already licensed the game from Sega. In fact, I'm sure Coleco would have revisited a vast majority of their ColecoVision releases and considered making enhanced ADAM Super Games seeing as this would have been the easiest and fastest way to expand the ADAM's software library especially considering that 3rd Party companies were taking a "wait and see" approach to supporting the ADAM. They had already won their argument with Nintendo and Atari over the ADAM Super Game versions of DK and DK Jr., so I don't think there would have been any road blocks. ColecoFan1981
The cartridge version is missing a sector, because there are only five sectors per level instead of six (the # of boards the original 1983 arcade version had). Does anyone remember which of the six levels is missing from the ColecoVision version? Nomad battle, perhaps? ~Ben
LynxVGL
The CV version has the Nomad level.
ColecoFan1981
The CV version has the Nomad level. I'll suppose the mine level must be missing, then, no? ~Ben
NIAD
Unless you have a prototype/wip version, than your copy of the game (physical cart or rom file) is the same as everyone else's.
LynxVGL
I'll suppose the mine level must be missing, then, no? ~Ben I'm confused then, Ben. The mine level IS the Nomad level, no? Nomad appears, drops mines thoughout the level that explode like proton torpedoes. This is just like the arcade version.
ColecoFan1981
I'm confused then, Ben. The mine level IS the Nomad level, no? Nomad appears, drops mines thoughout the level that explode like proton torpedoes. This is just like the arcade version. The final level (sector x.5) is, therefore which of the six screens was missing? ~Ben
NIAD
Man, that's a necro-response to LynxVGL's question... almost 3 years. I don't mean to sound like an A-hole here, but why don't you play and compare the Arcade and CV version's to see what the differences are?
