Not Directly

Can be done via a PC or a direct dial to a unix shell system using a terminal emulator.

You can proberbly set up an old PC as a shell system running 'Lynx' or some such text only web-browser. Connect the PC to the internet, and 'dail in' on the PC with the Atari via an SIO2PC or modem cabel

You could do e-mail the same way using Pine or a simmilar text based e-mail system.

If your ISP provides shell access (e.g., to a Unix or Linux server), you can log in via their modem pool. You won't be using PPP, but just plain ASCII text (like telnet'ing into the shell). From there you can presumably run a text-based e-mail client (like PINE or Mutt), news reader (like Tin or SLRN) and web browser (like Links or Lynx). You can also get files via FTP (using command-like FTP like NCFTP on the shell), and then download them to your Atari using X-, Y- (or even Z-) modem.

BobTerm, Ice-T and FlickerTerm80 are some good programs to check into.

Find them at XL Search
