TXG/MNX
Hi, I just saw this youtube movie of a game ported to the Falcon030 I would love to see this game on the JAGUAR
sh3-rg
Matthias was working on a Pac-Mania port a long time ago. CJ has looked at x68000 porting to Jaguar & discussed it with Anima, it's not impossible but it's also not as straight forward as it is for some titles from x68000 > Falcon. Anima's thread in the ST section.
108 Stars
That said, the game was released on many systems like Mega Drive, ST, Amiga etc... so maybe a port from one of those would be easier, beefing up the graphics afterwards? TrekMD
Matthias's version (or at least, the one I'm aware of) is called JagMania. Here is a video of it. http://youtu.be/xaMWBiBamE8
Isgoed
Jagmania is a fun game, but it is great in 2-player mode imo, and very playable.

I could run it through the same process I used for Bubble Bobble, Mercenary, Virus and Buggy Boy - except I don't like Pacmania at all, so I've got no interest in making it happen. Gunstar
Obviously that falcon version of Pacmania is far superior graphically than Jagmania, but if you want to play it on the Jag, Jagmania is it, right now, and it is very fun. Good for a free downloadable homebrew. Can play it with BJL, SKUNKboard, Jiffi Jag CD, etc. Edited January 11, 2013 by Gunstar

+CyranoJ
Any way to play these? Yes, go play the Atari ST versions.
doctorclu
I like Pacmania and Jagmania for the ability to jump over the ghosts. And I think Jagmania is quite fun and very responsive. I see where the Pacmania shown has better animation perhaps, but looks a bit sluggish and seems to lack sound (so far).
sh3-rg
Yeah, that's an old video, anima released a newer version recently that is much more impressive (taking back some of the things he worked on with Galaga88). Still no sound and not perfect, but moving in the right direction.

sh3-rg
CJ's ones are redirected from ST to Jaguar, GroovyBee's is built from the code Curt released some years ago. Both use emulation of the ST's bitplane display, GB created his own and CJ is using one by Orion that was adapted by SCPCD. All should see free releases this year some time, likely GB's first.
KevinMos3
Cool. I was aware of Star Raiders but not the others. I see talk about each of them, but nothing to download and play. Are they available? What's the story there?
GroovyBee
The people that attended eJagFest last year were able to play both Bubble Bobble and Star Raiders.
+Gemintronic
I still think people should think bigger than Arcade ports now that a select few have made it easier to convert ST software. SEUCK and 3D Construction Kit both scream for ports.
GroovyBee
SEUCK and 3D Construction Kit both scream for ports. The people doing the ST->jag conversions can't hear any screaming . In my opinion people are better off learning how to code in "C" or assembler (or both) for now. Then move over to using RAPTOR when its released for making 2D games. Using VBCC on XP (or GNU on Linux) and the removers "C" standard library coders have pretty much all of the string handling functions they'll need and memory allocation too. The only thing really lacking is printf (to aid debugging) but I have a couple of solutions in mind for that. I just need to find some time to work on them.
sh3-rg
Porting some of the better ST game to the Jaguar, possibly making them even better in the process (Bubble Bobble) - win. Porting fairly weak game creation stuff limited to being well inside what even an ST could do and having no genius game designer to create anything with them once they're there - not so win
+Gemintronic
Yeah. Dammit. Both of you are right. As a side I'd love a working printf as text mode games really do deserve a comeback. I recreated many sites including Castillo de San Marcos with 3D Construction Kit as a teenager. Also a 3D version of Atari Adventure. I guess the tool is only as good as the artist.

GroovyBee
Nah! You just need N, S, E, W on the jagpad and inventory, look, pick up, use, drop, fight, run and exit on the keys and then another press to select which one of the 10 items you are carrying to perform the action on .
+CyranoJ
You are in a dark room. There is a JaguarCD here with Highlander. Exits are: NONE.
