This looks pretty amazing...

I saw a tidbit about it here:

I still haven't picked up Ni No Kuni yet so I'm a bit behind in console RPG's.

I think I may get this game if reviews are solid. It sure looks great.

I agree looks pretty good! I'm a bit behind myself. I love them, but dang they take up so much of a persons time! I think the last RPG I finished was Divinity 2, lately been trying to get back to Skyrim, to finish up the DLC, Halo 4 has kind of taken front and center here lately though.

Ha...yup I haven't finished the Dragonborn DLC either although I did finish Dawnguard. I never even played Dark Souls yet and that's supposedly one of the best. Divinity 2 is also on my wait list...sitting on my shelf. :(

I also have Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen coming up in April. I beat that game twice and I may do it a third time when it comes out. Addicting. ;)

Not sold on this one. I'm normally overly excited by JRPGs, but what I can tell about the battle system is really putting me off this one.

I'm not normally a fan of action RPGs and this doesn't look to be an exception for me. Combat seems to be handled by waggling the analog nubs. Mechanically, it seems similar to Punch Out. Dodge around while the enemy goes through it's programmed attack string, then unleash your big attack during the pre-ordained window of opportunity. Maybe that's appealing to some people, but beyond nostalgia, I have no interest in Punch Out, and I've never wanted a Punch Out style RPG.

Plus, I'd prefer a game with a party of characters to control, not just a single combatant. Not a fan of the 2 characters/1 body thing either.

But it looks great!!!

:)

Right now that's probably the only reason for me to pick it up. I'm pretty sour on the DLC practices of NIS which has let to a lot of lost sales for them - not that they'd notice of course, but I do. ;)

I'll have to see more than screenshots to make an actual decision however, and if I do pick it up, it'll just be the regular edition. (Whereas in the past I always picked up their collectors editions for their jrpgs.)

I started Dark Souls on PC last month and it is pure evil, but in a good way of course. Prepare to spend a lot of time on that one. And to the guy asking about Disgaea, they are releasing a sequel to the first one this fall. Apparently Disgaea 2 was not that sequel, I don't know much about them except I played the hell out of Disgaea 4.

Yeah, Disgaea 2-4 were new casts of characters, etc much like how Final Fantasy tosses everything each game.

I haven't even finished Persona 4 on PS2 yet.....let alone a Disgaea game. :(

Actually Persona 3 FES and Persona 4 are next on my 'to play' list. I did beat Disgaea 1, but only after downloading a pre-leveled up save file as I didn't have 200 hours to level up each of my weapons (seriously, what is up with that?).

Oh man...can you point me to the save file? Gamefaqs right? If so I will check and I will use it......

BTW: I'm about 30-40% done with Persona 3. I play it off and on. It's another long one. Maybe 70 hours I have read.

Persona 3 is awesome once you get into it. I have Persona 4 sitting by to play eventually as well although I might download a complete playthrough faq when I do for the social rank levelling. When I went through Disgaea 1, I played it on the PSP. The time to level up and go through the game wasn't that bad when I'd just go through the random dungeons and the like to level up each day when I had time - usually on break at work and the like. Never did level up enough to fight the ultimate end boss (damage in the millions and all that. :P)

My copy of Persona 4 sits unopened.

Persona 3 is a long one... if you have the FES version the main game is about 70 hrs, and then there is a second chapter. The second chapter is a little dry and is hard, but you get the complete story.

Persona 2 was made available on the PSN this week. Might check this out. This is one case where I might okay with a digital version instead of selling an arm and leg for disc copy.

So it's just the PSX version? Didn't they release the complete version on the PSP?

I hear there is a true sequel to the first Disgaea game coming out too, correct?

Yes, Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness. It was announced alongside Time and Eternity and The Guided Fate Paradox, all three being PS3 titles.

Persona 2 is a two-game thing, Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment. Both parts were remade for the PSP, but only the first of the PSP pair was brought over to North America. What got released on the SCEA PS Store recently is the latter part of Persona 2, which was the only part ever released on the PS1 in North America.

I finished Persona 3 about 4 years ago and that sounds about right, I think I took 80 but I got a little too into trying to fuse rare personas. Persona 4 sat in my to do list for so long I went ahead and got the new version for the Vita and finally started it last week.
