SoundGammon
While watching the Walking Dead on AMC, I thought of a cool idea for a hack of Alien vs Predator. All the aliens are the dead and the Predator ship could become the Governors compound while the Alien's ship could belong to Rick and his group! Any ideas? wozencl
Use JagDoom rather than AVP? You have the source, the WAD format has been figured out and level editing tutorials released; seems the best option if someone was going to do what you propose. Failing that play Left 4 Dead. +Gemintronic
I present to you Walking Dead hacked into the Jaguar. When can you make the carts? wdhack.zip

+Gemintronic
Sorry, I forgot to include the ROMzorz. My original post has been updated. It's about 1 meg big which means we could sell it at half of Towers II going price - say, $150? I was thinking of placing it under the WTFPL license but I found some of the terms a little too constraining. Team Savage doesn't distribute software under it anyway.
wozencl
Looks great. What next? On a serious note, the source for Jag Doom is on this very site... http://www.atariage.com/Jaguar/archives/DoomSource/JagDoomSource.zip
+Gemintronic
What is your skill level SoundGammon? What can you do? What do you think you can learn? What is impossible? The people who can answer your question will need to know these things in order to help you accomplish your goal.
+Gemintronic
I was going to tell OP to try compiling JagDoom first to test his chops. Reading the makefile it looks like it uses a different compiler than the one jag.c (hello example) uses. Assuming the OP (and/or myself) uses Windows, how do I obtain the stuff (cpp) needed to compile this?
wozencl
If they can't edit a makefile then AVP 7 is probably beyond our latest member's capabilities. Fortunately there are hundreds, if not thousands, of PC Doom MODs for people to experiment with. I don't have a problem with people posting a "How to" guide here but the "Jaguar Rules" sticky remains. I did ask for it to be removed in the subscriber thread but the response was less than postive. I'd think a Google search would yield the answers but I can't say for sure. I just wanted some clarky cat or cake.
+Gemintronic
Well, if you don't know If they can't edit a makefile then AVP 7 is probably beyond our latest member's capabilities. If you can't contribute a constructive answer or harass the OP properly then pick another topic. Telling someone to "Google it" is neither clever nor supportive. SoundGammon
My skill level? Surely you jest! I have a hard enough time playing the game, no where near to hacking it. I use to hack some old 8-bit games, like changing text on a disk. I was able to put an alternate character set into my 5200 rom. But that was some time ago! wozencl
Well, if you don't know Well, we either make fun of the OP or offer some serious help. I did my friend. I was the one who suggested JagDoom to begin with and posted a link to the source for Alaj... something or other. I also linked to it just in case somebody interested in it did read this thread. I'd call that constructive but you can disagree if you like I won't take offence. Besides, I don't think I'm capable of providing the OP with the " serious help" he requires. I'll take another look at the Doom source this week sometime and see what I can do as I know someone else asked about it recently, JagChris maybe? Memory is bad these days. If you can't contribute a constructive answer or harass the OP properly then pick another topic. I'll leave the harrassment of the OP to you. You're far better equipped for it and I find doing so boring. Plus my old friends are no longer here to disagree with . I'd like to poiint out this 'harassment policy' is the reason we still have those ridiculous rules I mentioned earlier in place, i.e., posters here are incapable of posting without acting like 13 year old boys rather than the middle-aged men they are. It saddens me a great deal, well actually a little, but still... Telling someone to "Google it" is neither clever nor supportive. Supportive or clever? Dear me, I long for the arguments of old. Google will reveal a lot including forbidden ROMs which come in handy if you don't have the WAD file which ID specifically did not include in the release. My skill level? Surely you jest! I have a hard enough time playing the game, no where near to hacking it. I use to hack some old 8-bit games, like changing text on a disk. I was able to put an alternate character set into my 5200 rom. But that was some time ago! Then you want someone else to create it for you and it's unlikely to happen ever unless it's in a different form to the one you're expecting and as a joke. P.S. I managed to reply yesterday evening/this morning after enough alcohol to knock out a baby elephant - I feel rather chuffed!
+Gemintronic
Yeah. I hardly deserve a point by point debate. Drink lots of liquids, man! In other news this made me look up belboz's C dev stuff. Looks like his examples are using GCC - which means his fancy slax based development live CD must also. Damned if I'll futz with DOOM to hack in pictures of Andrew Lincolns hindquarters, though. I'd rather make a game called Steaming Sharter Spends a Penny.
wozencl
I'll try. Trust me this evil five day weekend is going be tough... Oh, point-by-point is easier for my hangover-suffering brain to cope with. I'd almost certainly lose track otherwise.
+CyranoJ
..... is the reason we still have those ridiculous rules I mentioned earlier in place What rules? I see no rules. This forum is the same as all the other forums. And a better place for it.
wozencl
You're completely right, they've gone! I didn't even notice the sticky had been removed. When did that happen?!! To prove I'm not entirely mad see the thread below - I asked them to remove them and was told they were staying put. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/186166-jaguar-forum-rules/ I'd agree the forum's better for it but I suspect that has more to do with the departure of certain individuals. I do miss some of them mind you they were entertaining at times.
+Gemintronic
The Jag section had rules? Isn't that like putting up a sign that says "No Fighting" during a pub brawl?
wozencl
Lmao, it sure did. We had a special status and our very own list of "DO's and DONT's" at one time. Some people are still considered 'special' and today I'm counting myself as one of those for not even noticing the rules had gone.
SoundGammon
Putting a post on here reminds me of my job when I tell a customer: "Sorry, we're out of Old Gold cigarettes!" sh3-rg
The rules vanished months ago, this is the first thread to acknowledge the fact :-) Maybe they got taken down in order to reformulate them for the 7800 forum? That's where the serious naughty boy action is these days!

+Gemintronic
At least the path ahead for some excited young buck is clear from this topic. Search Google for images of Zombies and copy/paste into the DOOM source. Compile with belbozs CPP stuff.. profit?
