Super Game Module second run

opcode

Recommended Posts

100 2nd run SGMs ordered so far. So still plenty of them available.

Please confirm: All SGMs that were shipped as part of the first run had Revision "D" (or maybe "E"?) circuit boards, and all SGMs shipped as part of the second run will be revision "F". Is that correct?

REV F will take care of the sound for ColecoVisions with RGB out.

If you use an REV E SGM from the 1st batch in a ColecoVision with RGB out, -you will have no sound.

REV F works on all ColecoVisions with or without RGB out. :)

  • 3 weeks later...

I wouldn't worry about it too much guys. Paypal payment confirmation is usually enough but eventually he'll send you a PM. I got one a few weeks later after payment. No worries....

Hi, I am confused. I have a SGM 1st Run. I don't have any SGM games but my coleco has the AV mod with the red yellow & white cables.

When I used the rom that tests the SGM I heard the music and as far as I know the test was successful

Does this mean my AV mod is not the same thing as an RGB out.

By the way what is an RBG out and do I have to worry about this issue?

Thanks

I believe they are talking about this mod:

No, not the modification from 5-11under.

RGB refers to the French CBS ColecoVision with Scart output.

Scart RGB output is a special connector which connects to the monitor or TV. with a SCART plug.

>>Protestari maybe you will have to worry.

1st run do not support RGB out (Scart), but i can not say if it not Work for you.

I think that it is the way that your modification is made to that determines it.

I can tell you the 1st run allows picture to work with ColecoVisions with RGB (Scart), but it will not allow sound.

Eduardo might define it better when he comes back from his stay in Brazil.

Your A/V mod is outputting Composite Video and mono audio. It is not the same as the RGB output and the mod board pictured above is 5-11under's Component Mod Board. Anyway, the 1st run SGM will work properly with these mods, but it won't work with the French CVs that have SCART A/V outputs... this is why Opcode had to make modifications to the SGM for the second run that is known as Rev. F. As was mentioned, Rev. F will work on all CVs whether they are U.S., Canadian, European, Australian or French modules and if they have a video mod installed or not.

Well maybe not... I think the old Composite Video Mod with Audio had issues with sound output for the Atari Adapter and if this is the case, these modded CVs will probably not output sound correctly from the additional sound chip of the SGM. This is not the fault of the SGM, rather it is the fault of this old A/V Mod.

ok so if I have already connected the 1st Run SGM to my A/V modded CV and done the SGM test using that special ROM and I heard the music and the test completed successfully then I don't have a problem.

Right?

thanks
