Deteacher Posted April 20, 2013 Share Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) You play Popeye who must win the love of Olive Oyl in three different scenarios while avoiding the nasty Bluto. Your main weapon against this relentless brute is the cans of spinach that appear at the beginning of each screen. You must dodge the projectiles thrown by Bluto and the Sea Hag, as well as Bluto's punches. Olive, who stands or walks around at the top of the screen, tosses out hearts, musical notes or "HELP!" cries for Popeye to catch. He must chase after these items and collect them before they fall to the ground and break. Other Popeye characters to make an appearance in the game are Wimpy, Sweetpea, the Sea Hag and her Vulture. Each of these characters appear at various points throughout the game. The game's three levels are the dock scene, the street scene and the shipboard scene. These repeat with increasing difficulty. You have to push directly up or down to move up/down the stairs, or you will stop I played a lot of Popeye in the arcades as a kid.. I remember my brother bragging to onlookers that I was "the best at that game" (which for all I knew, was probably true amongst the few people around there ). But yeah, it took me 3 tries today before I could pass the 3rd screen and when I got to the bouncing skulls, all hope was lost. <edit> Dammit.. I thought I did a screenshot but I guess it didn't go through. I don't remember my exact score but it was 52k something. Can I just say that? <edit2> Found it!
