toptenmaterial
I was going to send a few PMs, but I figured I'd ask all the Inty folks here at once. I am considering starting a HSC for Shark! Shark!. In my limited INTV experience, it is the game that I like and understand the most. Now, I have started plenty of contests for Game Boy and Game Boy Advance. There really is no machinary on AA for those types of HSCs, though there are plenty of GB/GBA fans here. So I had a free hand to do whatever I wanted. For INTV on AA, however, there already an existing apparatus for HSCs, which seems to be policed and maintained by a large, active, dedicated and organized community. So... should I start my own HSC? My gut tells me to peruse the guidelines here and get in on some existing HSC action. But is there a place for my Shark! Shark! HSC on it's own? Please share your opinion. Thanks. GroovyBee
If you want to "throw down the gauntlet" then I don't see a problem with that. Since your challenge is not part of the official AA Inty HSC how about offering some prizes to tempt people into taking part? Maybe something unique/special? Whatever you choose it doesn't have to be expensive because thats not the point. Its just to add to the fun factor of winning a tangible item. toptenmaterial
Ok! So here's what I am thinking: a basic 30 day high score contest of Shark! Shark!. I would require it to be played on an authentic INTV, as opposed to emu. My reasoning is that emu allows the player to map the, umm... unique INTV controller layout to something more accessable, and everyone should be on same playing field from the starting gate. I also feel that requiring a screen pic is reasonable. Now, with INTV games, we don't have to worry about difficulty settings and all that 2600 stuff, right? As for a prize, some commons will do. GroovyBee
How about something shark related for a prize instead?

LidLikesIntellivision
I liked to see many new systems in the general HSCs forums. It's a good place to gauge interest before possibly creating a new sub-forum with a new system HSC. Congratulations for the iniciative. Now I'm playing the TG16! For systems that already have an official HSC, here is my humble opinion on the matter: I like to see and I would participate in short and different from normal HSC tourneys (that's your "one month, only real hardware, shark! shark! contest) One can start these tourneys outside the HSC sub-forum right away. (as happened with the D2K Arcade contest, iirc) Before starting in the HSC sub-forum, it's good to ask (as you're doing ). Cparsley, our great moderator, shall be consulted either a thread fits or not in the Intellivision HSC. I wouldn't like to see long tourneys not much different from the normal HSC happening at the same time we play an HSC season. That could bring confusion and split the players. Example would be a long, only real hardware HSC. I prefer real hardware, I'm trying to have ALL Intellivision games , but with a small community, it's way better to allow emulation and different controllers as we offen do in the HSCs. LidLikesIntellivision
Oh, I forgot to give my humble but direct answer. Feel free to make a great unique Intellivision contest! Let's have fun playing Intellivision! Just don't call it HSC Intellivision or make something that would divide the players into two clubs. Join us and have fun! toptenmaterial
^^ Thank you very much, and thanks to GroovyBee as well. As a matter of formalities, would it be more proper to host my "unofficial" HSC in the Classic Gaming General or regular INTV to avoid confusion? cparsley
topten... we've played Shark! Shark! multiple times before, with the top score over 110,000. If you like, I'm fine to make the next KO round be Shark! Shark!, and u can play vs them to see who gets the top score! PS - Future requests should be done in PM first, instead of new threads! ty Edited April 26, 2013 by cparsley
