These were tough for me, a lot of them were really really hard to pick since I like both a lot in many cases.

Raiden or 1943 = Too close to call.

 

R-Type or Gradius = Gradius all the way.

 

Galaga or Galaxian = Galaga

 

Centipede or Millipede = I bounce back and forth on this one, but right now I'm in the Millipede camp.

 

Pole Position or Out Run = Tough one. I'm going to go with Pole Position because, while I like both, I tend to enjoy replaying Pole Position more.

 

Gyruss or Tempest = I'm going to go with too close to call on this one too.

 

Zaxxon or Viewpoint = Zaxxon. Definitely.

 

F-Zero or Wipeout = I don't like Wipeout, but F-Zero is in a whole other level of dislike, so Wipeout.

 

Mario Brothers or Popeye = hmmmmm.... Popeye.

 

Defender or Choplifter = Defender. No question.

 

Robotron 2084 or Smash TV = Robotron. Hands down.

 

Breakout or Arkanoid = Arkanoid. Another easy one.

 

Ikari Warriors or Commando = Ikari Warriors. Commando isn't even two player simultaneous, is it?

R-Type or Gradius: R-Type. Cooler power-ups.

Galaga or Galaxian: Galaga. More memories attached to it.

Centipede or Millipede: Easily Centipede. For the reason above (my childhood dentist had one in his play room) but also because I never cared for the changes in Millipede.

Pole Position or Out Run: Outrun, but I love both games.

Gyruss or Tempest: Tough one, but I pick Gyruss. I'm better at it...

Zaxxon or Viewpoint: Never played Viewpoint, so Zaxxon.

F-Zero or Wipeout: F-Zero! Just recently rediscovered the N64 version... It still rules!

Mario Brothers or Popeye: Mario Bros.

Defender or Choplifter: Chopper Command!

Robotron 2084 or Smash TV: Robotron. I think it's aged better and it's more suspensful.

Breakout or Arkanoid: Arkanoid I guess...

Ikari Warriors or Commando: Commando, because it birthed one of my favorite franchises, Bionic Commando!
