Welcome to Left, Right, & Shoot Stuff III. We will be playing: Galaxian (default), Megamania, Gorf, and Dreadnaught Factor Game-5 as a bonus game.

This shootout will last 3 weeks and end on Sunday June 23rd 2013 @ 9pm EST. Emulation is allowed as are custom controls. A8 versions of Megamania and Dreadnaught Factor allowed. Pics preferred, but not required except for HSC records.

The scoring:

Because of the huge difference in scoring on these games, each game will be scored separately, but round points will be earned per each position. Top spot earns 10 round points, 2nd spot earns 9 round points, etc. Lowest round points will be 3. 3 round points will also be given for missing one game. Player must post which game they will miss so I can award the "token points"

Don't forget the bonus game(s). Top 3 scores get 3-2-1 round point bonus. These have a funny way of deciding things late in the round.

Combined round points will decide your finishing places for the round. Ties will be settled by combined score. HSC record bonus will still be in effect, plus any surprise I can devise.

I think I had this problem before, but don't remember the solution...how do you select the level on Dreadnaught Factor? I'm using the Kat5200 emulator. I'm not sure which key changes the level.

Use the number keys at the title screen. :)

Didn't work for me when I tried, but it's also possible I didn't configure them...I'll go try that now...

EDIT: Nope, that didn't work...I'll figure it out eventually...or use a different emulator...for some reason I always have trouble configuring Kat5200 for some games...

Unfortunately, I'll be away from my Atari and emulation for several weeks starting this weekend. I did manage to get some playing in tonight, but it's hard to get good scores in four new games in one night! Scores below.

Galaxian Game 0: 5,980

Megamania: 15,830

Gorf: 5,740

Dreadnaught Factor Game 5: 2,741

BTW, Gorf is a total nightmare on original equipment...

Anyone know what might be wrong? When I'm playing Galaxian on the Kat5200 emulator, when the game starts my ship moves all the way to the right. I can move it back left, but as soon as I release the directional pad, it heads back right again.

I use the same controller configuration on Megamania and Gorf and it works fine.

Gorf is practically unplayable with dirty pots in a controller that makes the ship jitter all over the screen. The first score I submitted was with one like that. Soon as I tried the other one with fully functional ones the resulting playability was drastically improved.

It has to do with the 5200 controller calibration function in the game. On OE hardware, if I have the stick pushed sideways and turn on the system, some games will do that. Centering the stick and turning the system off and then on again always fixes it. There's a few other titles that do this as well.
