Modified Sharp Twin Famicom

Recommended Posts

This is my modified sharp twin famicom. I added the following:

True RGB with no jailbars or video interference. Using a rgb ppu chip from an arcade unit.

True S-video with no jailbars or video interference.

A N64 multi av port.

Removed the low pass filter to remove audio muffle on the default audio circuit.

A switch on the back to switch between the default audio circuit and the f-labo kit audio circuit.

The expansion connector has been replaced with a standard connector so it's easy for me to wire up custom expansion hardware. Original expansion hardware still works fine with the new port.

I soldered in nes controller ports so I can use any standard nes controller on this system.

You modded a very expensive Nintendo console!?.One part of me says freaking sweet while the other says a beautiful console ruined like a porn star. For real, good job though.

1: It's my money

2: Nothing has been "ruined" everything has been improved in every way imaginable.

1.I know it's your money

2.I like the original status of any console no matter how shitty it was and improved it can get

3.I'm not saying you shouldn't have done it,i'm saying that part of me likes it while the part of me that likes keeping consoles the way they were built dislikes it.And as i stated before, GOOD JOB!

Nice work!

I was going to RGB mod my Twin Famicom but I only have one disk so I decided against it.

The Twin Famicom isn't that rare. I got mine for $70, all it needed the disk drive belt replaced.

Are you using the CXA 2075 for converting the RGB in the system?

Yes it's got a 2075 in there. I also removed the low pass filter on the default audio circuit thanks to ace it makes it sound amazing. I don't even use mine to play fds games. Once you remove the lpf and do a nice rgb mod it sounds amazing. To get the best rgb you want the shortest distance possible between the ppu and the amp / encoder chip. I think my model of the twin is the best looking famicom case ever made. I also think once you remove the lpf this thing has the best nes / famicom audio circuit possible. I actually use this twin as my main famicom now.

Looks great. I need to send you mine for some similar enhancement... ;-)

Don't send it to Drakon, unless you want your system to wind up like this:

And the story behind it (another Drakon horror story is also in the same thread): http://bit.ly/I9cb9r

ApolloBoy,

Are there certain models to look out for?

Any model will do just fine, I was just cracking a joke at Drakon's overuse of hot glue. I'm sure you can find someone who can do those same mods and have it be way more presentable than that. Edited by ApolloBoy
