What is the maximum serial speed that a st/tt or falcon can handle ?

with standard software:

the ST: 19200

the Mega STE and TT: 115 200

But, HSMODEM software seems to speed things up.

This differs between the series.

ST: 19200

STe: 38400

Mega/STe on Serial2: 115200

Falcon on modem2: 115200

TT on Serial2 (depending on the chip it is equipped with): up to 230400, else 115200.

 

HSMODEM does not speed things up, it just provides routines which behave much more stable than the original ones.

I can get 115200 on my Mega STe, but if I move the mouse around during transfers with Ghostlink I start to see errors being reported on the PC..

The only workaround to these apparently CPU load based errors would be installing the ST_ESCC hardware hack into the Mega STE, I fear, as the original SCC of the Mega STE lacks a sufficiently large buffer:

I had stability issues running GhostLink at 115200 serial speed on my Falcon, set it to 57600, and it was running absolutely stable since then.

Now I'm using an Ethernec for networking which lets me leave the serial port unused.
