Before you even consider using such non-sense a PM must be sent to me, the Moderator, to ask for clarification on any such advantage or rules and if any of the above variables are allowed. So assume you cannot use any of the above variables to play in the 2600 HSC until you are given authorization to do so by me, your humble yet strict MODERATOR!

Great game. I was waiting to play Frostbite because I would love to roll it. I'm not sure if I can roll this game but I certainly will try my best this week.

This picture shows the place where the bear can't reach and there was a bug in that game, I got the fish trophy without scoring 100k.

In the last Frostbite thread I just watched a video of someone (or a computer?) and now I think it's impossible to roll the game.

It's way too fast at 800k.

 

So, since Oyama got 500k, 600k would be a great and challeging goal .

Of course, first I need to get the 500k...

Since Difficulty Switches have NO effect in Frostbite (according to the manual), I will play with Game 1 / Difficulty A on both sides (PRO position).

And try to come close to my score obtained on Season 9 of the OLD 2600 HSC, moderated by Zero - 526,300 points.

As mentioned by the old moderator of the 2600 HSC on previous Frostbite threads, Difficulty Switches are NOT APPLICABLE (Position A or B allowed).

Well, here's a good reason you should always read the manual. I was reading the HSC thread from the last time Frostbite was played, and in which I had participated, when (much to my surprise) I encountered a reference to the use of the red button. I never knew the red button had a function in this game!! :dunce:

I don't know if it'll make a difference in my performance, but at least I have another tool to work with as needed.

 

Speaking of reading the thread from last time, I found it interesting to re-read some of the stories people wrote about Frostbite for the bonus that week. Some were very well done

I know I'm losing bonus points here but I can't hold my scores.

At 500k it's really important to jump behind enemies.

FROSTBITE - GAME 1 - 407,980 - USING EMU7800 WITHOUT SOUNDS (MUTE ON)

 

SOME POINTS TO CONSIDER:

1) Since Difficulty Switches are not used in Frostbite and NOT APPLICABLE as mentioned by the old moderator of the 2600 HSC (Zero, do you remember?), Difficulty B or Difficulty A is ALLOWED. I chose Difficulty A / PRO on both sides in this case.

2) Notice that I CAN post videos on Youtube, whose length is bigger than 15 minutes. Running time: approximately 40 minutes.

3) Before entering the igloo, I sacrificed myself, especially when I had 9 lives (maximum value).

 

I watched the video

As always it's very interesting to see how Oyama's style is different from mine.

But, in this particular game, I don't see much advantages to maximize your points grabbing fishes and dying to get a higher time score.

The difficulty ramps up with the score not with the number of levels so you get comfortable playing in a way you won't be able to continue when the 400k arrive.

 

When I was about 12, I liked to play the unstopable Frostbite, i.e., never stop jumping . This is a good practice for higher levels, at least it's fun.

On the other side, I have to use a bit more the button as Oyama showed in his video, not to keep jumping and making points but to avoid risks.

I almost play as the unstoppable Frostbite, I must change a little.

I think Lid probably has a good point about getting a bad habit by point-pressing early in the game

however, with practice as Lid said unstopping, maybe it can still be profitable? if you can remember to adjust your strategy at the right time. many games I play like this, pressing for points until a point where I change what I'm doing when it gets tougher.

I've recorded a game in which I ended with 477,730. I don't know why but my cam stopped at 30 min (aprox. when I had 466k) so just I few minutes before the game ended.

Yeah the comic! I call myself Yarjr cause well Yar and I own an Atari Jr.

 

As for my score so far its nothing special but this is actually the highest Ive ever gone and hey at least Id be eligable for an Arctic Architect patch!
