delvis
I recently started upgrading my Mega ST4. With the RAM upgrade it is now a Mega ST 12. I bought the RAM upgrade from Best Electronics, this is in addition to the IDE /TOS 2.06 board from Alan H. I added the Eiffel 3 and ordered the EtherNEC card. Will let you know how the RAM upgrade works out.
GadgetUK
Awesome stuff! Anyone know if more than 4Mb is possible on STFM or STe!
delvis
I know this specific Marpet upgrade is for the Mega St. Fixing these things up it most of the pleasure. Adding new toys to the computers of my youth. If I just wanted a PC, I have a Windows 7 tablet PC and a Mac Powerbook Pro for that. Like I have said before when working on my retro stuff, it is not the destination it is the adventure. KLund1
For an STE or MSTE you just need to pop 4 1mb simms, and good to go. need correct timings though. I got bunches of them. But 12mb? how do you get that number? I see 8 simmsin the picture. But anyway, long as it works, It is a very nice set up.
delvis
If you see the second photo it shows System free memory 12. This version uses the 4 on the mainboard plus the 8 on the upgrade.
delvis
I sent Bradley at Best Elec a note that I had installed the RAM upgrade combined with Alan H IDE/TOS 2.06 upgrade. The instructions called for a different brand of TOS 2.06 upgrade. He did reply back saying he was glad it worked out for me and that he only has one of these RAM kits left. So if you own a Mega ST and want to add this +8 board here is your last chance from Best.

+wood_jl
delvis, you are a credit to the forum, already. How I wish I had your skills! Thanks for sharing this info. You should consider going into ST mod/repair service. You're obviously capable, unlike so many of us.

Bumzyman
Delvis, did you get your RAM from Best as well? Looks like it would be another $80 for the SIMMS from them. I have a bunch of old SIMM's laying around but don't know if they have the right timings as KLund1 was saying. How would I go about finding out if the SIMMS I have kicking around already would work before hand?
delvis
No I actually had bought my RAM from a different vendor. He sold 10 sticks for $26.00 USD or $2.60 each versus $10 each. Memory Ten Inc. 1MB 30p 70ns 9c 1x1 FPM SIMM http://memoryten.com/ Shipping was $9.00 So for $35 USD I got 10 sticks versus $80 plus for 8 sticks. Marpet manual says 80-120ns.
