Hello ColecoVisionites. :)

Welcome to another quick-and-dirty edition of the Team Pixelboy News Bulletin. I have some minor news to report, and I really needed to post this today. Keep reading to find out why.

BUCK ROGERS HAS LEFT THE SPACE DOCK!

Beta-testing of Buck Rogers Super Game officially ended today, and I'm happy to report that the game is ready to be put on cartridge. Within the next few weeks, I will probably ask Harvey deKleine to solder together 100 MegaCarts for this game, to get a head start on tackling the workload of the next Christmas lineup. I just hope he's not too busy at the moment. ;)

BETA-TESTERS NEEDED

Next up on the beta-testing to-do list is Module Man, and I need a beta-tester ASAP, in addition to Troy_Whelan who is already onboard. Module Man is a regular 32K game that doesn't require the Super Game Module, so anyone with a 128-in-1 AtariMax cart (or SD cart) can perform these tests on real hardware. I need someone who is available to play this game A LOT between now and early September, so if your job tends to keep you super busy, or if you have kids (school will start in just a few weeks!) better think twice before offering your services as beta-tester. I cannot afford to have beta-testing last longer than a month.

The selected beta-tester will receive a free copy of the game once it's released next Christmas, so if you are interested, please send me a PM right away. But be warned: This game is an old-school platformer, which means it's rather difficult and you need to spend time with the game to really get good at it. Watch this video of the Dragon 32 version if you want a good idea of what to expect:

WEB SITE UPDATE!

I added a section for Front Line SCE to teampixelboy.com, and I also updated the project status of several upcoming games. Do drop by and take a gander, if you have the time. :)

In conclusion, you will find below a picture of the overlays that will be included with Front Line SCE and Buck Rogers Super Game. Enjoy!

This concludes this Team Pixelboy News Bulletin. We now return you to your regular forum activities. :)

Awesome! Can't wait for Buck Rogers! Did you already start taking orders for it?

I don't take pre-orders for my games. They will be released on Christmas, and I will be sending notifications to all my customers on Christmas morning, like I do every year. :)

Probably not completely the proper place to put this, but speaking of games...we are playing Space Dungeon in the Atari 5200 HSC...has anyone thought of doing this game on the ColecoVision? I had never heard of it before playing it in the HSC and now I can't quit playing the thing...very addictive...

Ah, okay. Since you mentioned carts would start getting assembled in the next few weeks, I thought you might be releasing it earlier.

I am looking forward to it! I am already saving up my $$$. ;)

Hopefully, this year, you won't be burdened with fighting off a cold.

Nah, just getting a head start. :) It's good to have series of carts already assembled by the time you start glueing a bunch of boxes together (which is going to happen in early November, based on past experience).

Space Dungeon is a nice game, but I don't like the player's ship, or more to the point, how it shoots lasers in all directions Robotron-style. I think this is because when I first heard of Space Dungeon several years ago, I assumed the player's ship would be like the one from Asteroids. Then I saw some YouTube footage of the arcade game, and I couldn't help being a little disappointed.

But really, that's just my personal opinion. :)

EDIT: And it's the opinion of a guy who's never actually played the game, so it's next to worthless. ;P

Module Man video above has white background. Module Man screen shots on TeamPixelboy site have black background. Hopefully the plan is to have black.

Some screens have a black background, while some others have dark green and dark blue backgrounds. The ColecoVision actually has more available colors than the Coco-2/Dragon 32, so might as well make the most of it. :)

EDIT: Rest assured there are no screens with a white background in the CV version.

After playing the 5200 version of Space Dungeon I checked out the arcade version on MAME...in my opinion the 5200 version is much better. Of course the controls are a bit weird and I finally got used to the 5200 setup (at least via emulation)...you have to use one joystick to move your ship and the other joystick to fire. I only played the arcade version on MAME once and couldn't make much sense of what buttons to press.

I would like to take a moment to announce that I have selected beta-testers for Mecha-8 and Battle of Hoth. These games will undergo beta-testing in parallel with Module Man, so aside from TwinBee, all the upcoming Team Pixelboy games should have their beta-testing period completed between now and early September, which suits my needs just fine. :)

Many thanks to all who offered their services as beta-testers! :D
