TI-99/4A -- Graphics Programs

Omega-TI

Recommended Posts

I recently installed an F18A into my TI, and now I want to play, but I have a couple of small problems.

1) I do not have a ton of time to hunt for the 'BEST' program available.

2) I have no clue where the BEST old graphics can be found.

So, since this forum has the largest gathering of TI-Gods and experts of every shape and form, I figured, why not just ask you guys and save a boat load of time! :)

I have MacFlix - and no longer have any old graphics for it. (I'll probably junk it).

I have MaxRLE - but I only have 3 B&W graphics. (I'll probably junk it too).

What I want to do is be able to display the enhanced color graphics ON THE TI that Tursi's TMS9918 converter can output. Does anyone have a link to the program I'm looking for?

Thanks!

Did you check out the Image Viewer demo Tursi wrote for the F18A? It takes advantage of the *horizontal* interrupt to set a 64-color palette "per line" (I think). Attached is an example screen shot I took during testing. I think he posted the full version and the code somewhere, and probably details on how to make your own images for use with the program. It requires a CF7+ or nanoPEB (again, I think).

No, I've not seen it. What is the name of the program? Is it on his site or is there a link?

I have everything needed (Nano & F18) so it's just a matter of getting it.

This is EXACTLY what I need!

I was called CF7Slide I think. I don't know if Tursi ever posted it in the forum or not, but I'm sure he would. I have some version of it but I don't know if it is the latest and I don't see the binary (just the source). I'll have to dig around a little more.

As for the tool he used to make the F18A specific images, I don't remember.

I'd love to get a WORKING copy of it, and (if possible) a graphic or two that will run on it. It would be really nice to view the potential of this thing, as well as being able show others when they ask me,"What's that old dinosaur doing on your desk?"

It's only 15 colors per line.. there's just not enough VRAM to go much farther (it's already using something like 17.5k for the image). You might be able to push it harder if you /also/ push data from the 9900, but my goal was that the GPU does ALL the work, and the 9900 is free.

The program that makes the images is my regular Convert 9918 program - http://harmlesslion.com/software/convert9918 - there are a couple of F18A options in the dropdown list.

The Slideshow itself requires a compact flash reader, I only published a TI99Dir compact flash image (and source), so you need to restore it to a full card (IIRC, 16MB or larger - although it doesn't fill it). You can see it in YouTube here:

And the slideshow itself I discussed here on the forums somewhere. It's still downloadable from my "temp" folder here: http://harmlesslion.com/temp/Cf7SlideWithPics.zip
