dgdgagdae
Twitch Prime (included free in Amazon Prime) is giving away a buttload of free games in July. There are some Neo Geo games up now. I was all in, until: Install the Twitch Desktop App (Windows) In the app, go to "My Games" Install game client Launch game and enjoy your rewards

Flojomojo
Big Microsoft sale. If you buy PC games from here, they show up in your Xbox One queue, too. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/collections/premiumpcgamedeals?ICID=us_fy19_ugs_hero1_cta2_pcgames&rtc=
Flojomojo
No more free games from Origin. EA is shutting down the "On The House" program. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/07/30/origin-stops-giving-away-games-on-the-house/
Tanooki
So they reeled in enough people with freebies that they dropped it probably because it backfired more than paid off. I wish they'd still offer up all their stuff on other services, Origin isn't good.
Flojomojo
So they reeled in enough people with freebies that they dropped it probably because it backfired more than paid off. I wish they'd still offer up all their stuff on other services, Origin isn't good. All the oldies they gave away are on GOG, which has frequent sales. The somewhat newer games like Plants Vs Zombies and Peggle are on Steam. They never gave away the very new things like Star Wars Battlefront or Titanfall to my knowledge. Someone in the RPS comments said they probably felt they'd done enough to no longer earn the "golden poo" award, which I assume was their "worst company in the world" thing from Consumerist. They're not great, but they're not the worst company in the world.
MrMaddog
So they reeled in enough people with freebies that they dropped it probably because it backfired more than paid off. I wish they'd still offer up all their stuff on other services, Origin isn't good. I got enough "free" games off Origin, but ended up re-buying them from GOG for DRM-free versions to use with my custom DOSbox setup. Go figure...
Tanooki
Fair enough, guess they're 2nd to last now. I just wish the stuff on Origin on the whole would hit GoG, or at least Steam. They just have this odd spread of what they've held back or not, even breaking up franchise sequels.

Asaki
GoG has a pretty nice sale right now. Lots of FPS including STALKER, FEAR, Strife, and Serious Sam. I'm finally grabbing SiN. Looks like they also have all of the Might & Magic games on sale.

Asaki
https://www.pcgamer.com/deathgarden-coming-to-steam-early-access-on-august-14-free-for-the-first-week/ That's a little misleading, I'm pretty sure you're only able to play it for free for the first week, and then you have to buy it if you like it. Not a bad idea, though.
JamesD
That's a little misleading, I'm pretty sure you're only able to play it for free for the first week, and then you have to buy it if you like it. Not a bad idea, though. Not sure how "free for the first week" is misleading. Not liking having to pay for it after that is a completely different issue. <edit> Here is the actual page describing the offer: https://www.deathgardengame.com/en/news/deathgarden-kickstarts-steam-early-access-on-aug-14-with-free-week-for-all-players Edited August 10, 2018 by JamesD
Asaki
It makes it sound like early birds get the game for free. A lot of digital games are doing a sale where early birds get the game on a discount. I read the description on the game's Steam page.
JamesD
No it doesn't. It sounds like it's "Free for the first week"
JamesD
Quake Champions is now free to play... forever... unless it's not... and it's misleading... or something https://www.pcgamer.com/quake-champions-is-now-free-to-play-for-everyone/
Flojomojo
I think it's free to play forever. They've given it away before. There are in-app purchases if you just can't get enough Quake from the starter pack. It can be difficult to tell "truly free" from "free with bullshit" nowadays. PlaysWithWolves
It can be difficult to tell "truly free" from "free with bullshit" nowadays. I like to call the latter "free to pay".

Flojomojo
14 games for $1 https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/dollar-siege-bundle I got a notification about that bundle from somewhere. There was a time when I would instabuy something like that. Nowadays I'm slightly more choosy. I don't see a single thing in there I'd want to play. Am I missing anything? Anyone try it out? JamesD
With over 100 unplayed games on my steam account alone... I'm passing on stuff like that at the moment.
Tanooki
I've given up on bundles too years ago, the exception was the original humble bundle for over 20 Neo Geo arcade games. That reason there is why, you get a deal but then end up with a dozen pieces of useless baggage with no interest and/or time for around the one you want. It's not that hard waiting every 90~days for a seasonal sale on gog or steam to nail down that game for a real cheap price anyway.
