Pillars of Eternity: Definitive Edition and Metal Slug 3 for FREE?! I'm glad I didn't cancel the free trial just yet. I was considering getting some free loot for Fortnite.

So they reeled in enough people with freebies that they dropped it probably because it backfired more than paid off. I wish they'd still offer up all their stuff on other services, Origin isn't good.

All the oldies they gave away are on GOG, which has frequent sales.

The somewhat newer games like Plants Vs Zombies and Peggle are on Steam.

They never gave away the very new things like Star Wars Battlefront or Titanfall to my knowledge.

Someone in the RPS comments said they probably felt they'd done enough to no longer earn the "golden poo" award, which I assume was their "worst company in the world" thing from Consumerist. They're not great, but they're not the worst company in the world.

I got enough "free" games off Origin, but ended up re-buying them from GOG for DRM-free versions to use with my custom DOSbox setup. Go figure...

That's a little misleading, I'm pretty sure you're only able to play it for free for the first week, and then you have to buy it if you like it.

Not a bad idea, though.

Not sure how "free for the first week" is misleading.

Not liking having to pay for it after that is a completely different issue.

Here is the actual page describing the offer:

I've given up on bundles too years ago, the exception was the original humble bundle for over 20 Neo Geo arcade games. That reason there is why, you get a deal but then end up with a dozen pieces of useless baggage with no interest and/or time for around the one you want. It's not that hard waiting every 90~days for a seasonal sale on gog or steam to nail down that game for a real cheap price anyway.
