+SpiceWare
I've added somebody to Manage Ignore Prefs and there's a couple in my list that I don't remember why I added them. It would be handy to have a "Reason Why" field for each entry.
+Gemintronic
That's a great idea. I had an entry in my ignore list that I forgot just today. It's my fault that I peeked under the "view it anyway" but all the reasons came back in a depressing wave. If a reasons why field is too much maybe just a filter that doesn't list their post at all.
Rhomaios
It's like a "do not answer" number in your phone. Short memories and all, but if this feature doesn't get implemented, remain strong, do not peek!

Short memories and all, but if this feature doesn't get implemented, remain strong, do not peek! I know you're trying to be helpful, but after 5000-7000 posts like me and SpiceWare you don't immediately register who is Zylon and who is ZylonBane. Eventually you forget the who and why. Thomas Jentzsch
you don't immediately register who is Zylon and who is ZylonBane. Is this very case a simple memory hook helps: bane = ban
+SpiceWare
Figured out why I added one of them. Turned out I didn't forget, he changed his user name and I didn't recognize the new one.
Reaperman
I've wanted one of these note fields for a while. I have no idea why some folks are on my ignore list. I want very much to continue holding my grudge, but it's sure be easier if I could remember why. I don't want to appear soft on the issue...whichever issue that was... Another thing about ignores--they don't ignore status updates. I notice some people have spammy and unrelated status updates that I'd like to block while viewing their (generally on-topic) forum posts. I know they're actually useful human beings, but they've chosen to link accounts with stuff with hashtags and whatnot. Of course since I'm probably on everybody's ignore list, I fully realize that these would hurt me more than others. I'd like to take this time to say "I'm sorry" for everything I've done in the past, and that I'm actually a nice guy, please take everything I say in the most positive possible way, as I'm probably making a poor attempt at humor. +SpiceWare
You seem a little snarky there, but part of the reason behind wanting a "Reason Why" field is to make it easier to periodically review the list in the hopes of shortening it. Eventually you forget the who and why. Oh, I'm well aware of the tendency to forget. I've been on several other forums where my post count is 5000+ (one 6k+ the other was 10k+). I'm not saying you should remember (I too have forgotten and removed in order a block!), I'm saying we should hold strong and withstand the pressure! Then again, if your purpose is like SpiceWare's i.e. to forgive, that plan doesn't work at all. A reason for ignoring is an excellent idea to foster forgiveness. I'm hopeful that he's matured a bit as I remember the computer flame wars that took place on the BBSes in the 80s. Some of the others are on my list are because they're still living in the 80s - at this point I doubt they'll change.
jetset
I've only ever added one person, and I've no need to jog my memory as to why.

BigO
A little late to the party, but I just ignored someone based on their conduct and thought, "I wish there were a 'reason' field on this feature."
