Koji77
I found on ebay the Lotharek SD card external drive/reader. It comes complete with cable etc. Are there any specifics I need to know or is this a plug and play type device? How do I get games on it? copy from my PC direct to this card and insert into the ST reader and reboot? I am very ignorant, please give me a step by step so I don't screw this up!!! Thanks in advance!!
ParanoidLittleMan
Precisely: Lotharek manufactures SD card reader (better said raider/writer) called UltraSatan for Atari ST(E), TT . Of course we can not talk about plug and play on Atari. You need partitioning and driver SW for usage. After doing TOS/DOS compatible partitioning and installing autoboot driver it is really easy to use. TOS/DOS compatible partitioning is what makes file transfer with some PC easy (with cheap USB card reader) - then can copy files directly in Windows with some file manager. And yes, after that you insert SD card in UltraSatan connected to Atari. Even reboot is not a must - UltraSatan supports hot-swap of SD cards. http://atari.8bitchip.info/pphdr.php
Sikor
Look at lotharek's page: http://lotharek.pl/category.php?kid=
Koji77
The unit on ebay is an external model. Does this unit work with (addition) or eliminate the functionality of the floppy? I would like to retain the floppy option as well as add the sd card "drive"
Atari8guy
The UltraSatan is in addition to any floppy. It plugs into the hard drive port on the back of the ST. Floppy functionality is unaffected.
+DarkLord
And you can make the SD card where it is able to be read by both the Atari and a Windows computer. It just has to be formatted the right way. There are a few guides online. Or if you are using Linux, you can just use mtools and just read the Atari formatted SD card natively. It's what I use. (and that way you can avoid those pesky, obnoxious, bloated, MS cursed Windows machines).
