No manual scan for this game in the AA database.
If anyone has the manual and could scan or post a pic of a few pages i'll give you 3 bonus points.

Here are some scans. Let me know if they meet the quality bar.

Someone smarter than myself can probably slice and dice them into individual pages. I just took the staples from the original manual to create better scans.

Wow, LX.NET, those scans look great.  Thanks for taking the time to do that!

I really love this game.  I grew up with the NES version and never played the Lynx one until about a year ago.  I don't mind the zoomed-in scale, although it led to a couple of cheap deaths on my first playthrough when I walked right off of some ledges without realizing it.  I'm glad the programmers worked in good conversions of the music, unlike with Ninja Gaiden III.

I've done a few playthroughs, but I'm still working on getting a better score.  I'll post it eventually.

First try. Just raising the bar a bit before PFG9000 comes with his crushing score.

That was by finishing the game BTW. It just shows GAME OVER and underpanties. No time bonus in the last round.

Ladies and Gentlemen, if you would allow:

Cleared the Lynx-version for 65 000 points. :)

ddlynx.jpg

Also played and cleared the Mega Drive version for extra points (Hi Score 41780):

ddmd.jpg

Interesting to play both after another. The MD-version has much higher difficulty (no easy setting) and more enemies. Also large chunks of the levels have been taken out of the Lynx-version, so the MD one is maybe twice as big. Also more detailed level graphics, more animation and more different enemy types.
Downside is that the hit detection is kind of dodgy and the moves harder to pull off. So the control win goes to the Lynx.

How can you get 66k?  That must be a perfect playthrough.  The scoring system seems very basic in this game.  You get points for each guy you take down, and you get a bonus for each life you have left at the end of the stage.  So the only way to really get a better score than the next guy is to die less.  I usually lose all my extra lives in the last stage, and I end up with the exact same score.

I haven't figured it out yet either, but there is the time bonus per level as well. I have a score of 61k where i had a near perfect play. Only lost two blocks of life or so in the first two stages. I do remember taking the upper route with the ladders on the first stage.

I'll give it another try this evening.

You can clearly see it's not a perfect playthrough because he had lost lives. ;)

The scoring system isn't that basic.
Punching an enemy gives 50 points. Kicking gives 100. Headbutting gives 200. Hitting with a weapon also gives 200.

I reached my 65 000 without a single kick or headbutt, I always punched because I hadn't taken notice of how many points each move gives, and punching is much easier. I did use baseball bat or whip whenever I could though.

Basically you should try headbutting your way through the game to get as high as possible I guess. But the downside is it is slow, and a bitch to pull off because you have to hold the d-pad down for it which will likely move you away from the enemy. It is pointless if you lose lots of energy that way though. So you must find a good balance or really become perfect in executing moves.

But 65 000 can be reached just by punching and using weapons, and so can 66 250 (just means getting hit fewer times or be quicker).

69200, and I died before I reached the boss. Screw the pitfalls, I lost one life that way, else I would have cracked the 70 000.
