Andromeda Stardust
This is the second time I've seen Princess Rescue brought up on this. I need to find the thread with the deets on it. Edit: I hope this doesn't mean it's not available anymore. I was saving up for a cart Edit: Oh, wow. That blows. It's like Great Giana Sisters all over again. Yet nintendo at least forgave that one enough to release Giana Sisters reboot on DS... Well, you've still got two options: A: http://harmony.atariage.com/ http://atariage.com/forums/topic/215058-princess-rescue-binaries-released/ B: http://www.ebay.com/

I terminated work on my own Great Gianna Sisters homage. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/201771-s3-the-sensational-santuci-sisters-cancelled/ I guess that's why it's called a "chilling effect"
RetroFiends
Well, you've still got two options: A: http://harmony.atariage.com/ http://atariage.com/forums/topic/215058-princess-rescue-binaries-released/ B: http://www.ebay.com/ I actually already have my Harmony Cart and Princess Rescue is on there. There's just something about owning an actual cart for me. This is one of those instances where I wouldn't feel right using ebay. Sprybug wouldn't get anything out of it, either. Blows all around. In the end, it's my fault for waiting so long. Actually, it's worse. It has a cascade effect. I terminated work on my own Great Gianna Sisters homage. http://atariage.com/forums/topic/201771-s3-the-sensational-santuci-sisters-cancelled/ I guess that's why it's called a "chilling effect" I wouldn't be so sure. The current IP holders of the Giana Franchise, Black Forest Games, are extremely cool dudes, and are open to communication; at least they were when I reached my hand out to them on numerous occasions. If you explain the situation to them honestly, bring this whole escapade up, your fears of continuing to develop this homage, I think your chances are very good that you can get the go-ahead. Mr SQL
I was asked for FB 2 (Thrust). Atari requested unlimited rights and wanted to pay for them. I skipped because IMO the money offered was too low compared to what they wanted. I also rejected a request to include Qb on Flashback. Or, more accurately we could not agree on $ and IP. Tom and Andrew, you guys wrote awesome video games in the 80's (and now!) and I think Andrew wrote about wanting to not just write the game code but be involved in all the business aspects - marketing, advertising, etc. I was fortunate to be in both sides of the business in the 80's (and now!); my Dad and I started a software company around my text adventure games when he saw how little I was getting paid from the industry. A programmer should definitely be properly compensated for their work - no argument there. OTOH if you give away an awesome game for peanuts so that Atari could sell a ton of copies bundled with their console it would be tremendous fun and the effects could accelerate sales of your other games, also fun

Now that is an original idea! "Forum Fighter" Where the newbie navigates the discussion groups, while dodging the flame throwing programmers and avoiding the swinging doors on each level. I removed you from my ignore list and offered to take a look at your mock up and game documentation. It's natural that your previous words would offend other programmers here. The way forward is to stop reacting and take all this advice in.

Andromeda Stardust
Now that is an original idea! "Forum Fighter" Where the newbie navigates the discussion groups, while dodging the flame throwing programmers and avoiding the swinging doors on each level. Awesome concept. The protagonist starts out dodging angry programmers but also learns during the course of the game that the best way to develop a game is taking the time to learn programming oneself. The enemies from the early levels become friends as the protagonist develops the skillset of the old-hat programmers, and in a shocking twist of events the game ends as the protagonist is grated moderator status, and spends the rest of his days blasting the onslaught of trolls and newbies with his laser torpedos. Oh yeah, and you earn enough points to buy your own game from a shopkeeper named Albert. Feel free to use my ideas. If you can turn that into a 2600 game, more power to ya!

It's a sweet game concept, where your enemies become your friends and you in turn become one of the bad guys (from the perspective of yourself, when you began to play). +Gemintronic
Wow, I am impressed one can become a completely different guy in 4 - 5 days. [/quote It is like being gay, you can pray it away, living here in the bible belt there are flyers on the bulletin boards at the "general store" for such specialists. Talking to the programmers where I work is like playing Jeopardy, only you have to phrase your question or answer in the form of sarcasm. Different species of nerd in here, my bad. Sounds like the answer may be at the general store. If they have a cure for gay programmer nerds money shouldn't be a problem.

Andromeda Stardust
From what I understood, Sarcasm is the cure for gay programming nerds. *sigh* I could care less what orientation the programmer has; it's like religious affiliation and politics; just keep it out of the game and I'll be happy. Hell I don't even care, whether I'm a damsel rescuing a princess or a dude rescuing a prince, or even have to play as a magical pink bunny wearing a top hat and a tutu, I'll still play it anyway, provided the gameplay is good!
