Common - wire this common to the other side of the above buttons. Use daisy chain type wire.

No Connection - do not wire

Colecovision DB9 cable

Top Connector with 9 pins wires to Colecovision cable

Color code is for Coleco brand cable from SAC or standard controller. On Rev2 boards I added color code for Retro-bit as well

pin 1 to 1, 2 to 2, etc.

Pin 7 and Pin 9 are not used, I solder them anyway - just to keep wire in place

Coleco color code:

1 = Brown

2 = Red

3= Orange

4=Yellow

5=Green - common

6=Blue

7= NC

8= Gray- GND

9= NC

RetroBit Color code:

1 = Brown

2 = Orange

3=Gray

4=Black

5=Red - common

6=Yellow

7=Blue - NC

8=White - GND

9=Green - NC

Keypad (KP-12)

bottom of board connectors connect to a common ground type keypad, please note keypad uses common signal wire, not the GND wire.

from:

left JST-XH right JST-XH

3 6 9 # 2 5 8 0 1 4 7 * NC COM

NC = no connection

COM = Common

Mounting Holes on right are 2.75 inches center to center, from left to right 1.625 inches

PCB is 1.79 inches wide and 2.9 inches tall

Parts to order as the do not come with the bare PCB:

(34) 1N4148 small signal diodes, Digikey.com p/n = 1N4148FS-ND qty 50 is $2.56

KP-12 keypad - $4.95 at the site below

http://www.allelectr...N-KEYPAD/1.html

DB9 cable - Retro-Bit Sega Genesis extension cable works well, ~$10 on eBay

wiring, can use JST-XH 6S cables (qty 4) - these are 7 pin. 2 for keypad, 1 for direction, 1 for additional buttons

If you go this route then buy qty (4) 455-2240-ND from Digikey.com - qty 4 is $1.72

I like Alpha wire 26awg from Mouser.com 602-3049-100-01 / 3049 WH005

Quick Connects (QC)

crimp tool is needed, such as Hozan P-706 Open Barrel Crimper - Amazon sells

order QC connectors from focusattack.com

order min 12 .110 - these are 1 time use (buttons)

order min 8 .187 - these are 1 time use (joystick)

Sanwa QC covers, order qty 12 .110 and qty .187 - these are reusable

cut wire to length, solder wire, crimp QC to wire, solder QC to wire, install hard cover (Sanwa brand)
