Book Archive

I have five somewhat TI related books that I will be adding to the TI-99/4A Book Archive within the next couple of weeks and will likely not be adding anymore unless I can find those books listed on my "In search of..." page.

As such, I am thinking of passing the archive onto someone else to host and manage. I’ve given Ciro permission to add the books to http://www.ti99iuc.it/,

although the format he uses makes them less easily accessible than my site does. Therefore, I need to find someone whose vision of “simplicity” is similar to mine.

My original intent was to covert my books into digital form so that I wouldn’t have to tote around. That’s been accomplished along witha few extras.

The second goal, which is to create disks from the source code in those books is a long range project and one that I find myself only semi-enthusiastically embracing.

As some of you may know, during the past year I sold all of my 99/4A items. I have also recently started a new job. Along with other long delayed projects, new interests, etc. I have less time than I once had to devote to 99/4A related activities.

Who knew retirement would be so busy?

Therefore, If you know of a good candidate to take on the book archive please let me know.

I won't be going away, I just won't be as visible in the community as I once was.

Thanks,
Ernie

Just wanted to say I love your book archive. During slow parts of the work day, I download the occasional book & skim through it. I haven't seen these books since I was a wee lad. These kids today won't know what it's like to learn structured(or even casual un-structured) programming .

Sir, I would like to thank you personally for taking so much time in the past, and for devoting so much effort into creating that wonderful book archive that so many TI'ers have come to rely upon. You have left a lasting and valued impression on the TI community. I am sure your efforts will have a lasting effect for decades to come.

I'm glad to hear you will not be leaving us entirely. Above all enjoy your retirement!

Best Regards,

Kevan

Ernie, I can host it on Hexbus.com as another mirror. I might be able to drop in your exact site with some edits, and my daughters have been bugging me to no end to edit my website. I have plenty of space and bandwidth which isn't used. I can probably use a tool like SiteSucker on my Mac to download the whole thing.

Web66.com, my provider, I've been with since 1998. I get something like 10GB of storage (like I would ever use near that much). An insane amount of transfer (50GB) too.

you done one of the most nice webspace with your TI books, and i hope you will continue to find time to follow 99er community...

take advantage of this your message to present my work on TI99iuc.it

i'd like to thank you for thinking to the possibility of my website and DataBase Section.

as you know, i would collect on my website lot of books and most of others documents...

so i have to create a "Technical page" for each item and so every book Manuals or catalogs etc.

this is the page of my search page: Search in DataBase Page

and this is the actual (beta) list of the items online.. List of latest items

also...

every book will be have possibility to have a download link:

Manual/Book sheet example

or the possibility to read it online:

Manual/Book readable example

you are correct about different website page, in true are two different work and sure your is more easy and fast to read,

my website won't create a real Database with a working advanced search section... and in all language... i will scan French, German, Italian, English (UK) documents/books/manuals

so,

i will be glad to host your books in my website, if you will be happy i that can do it also, also have your suggestions (but from the community too) for do this at better...

just, because the project on my website is more extensive than a simple list of books, it's impossible for me to keep the site as it is now, every book will have the own sheet.

feel free to take your choice and always ... THANKYOU for what you done ;)

i'm "working" for passion of the TI99's name and i will be happy to offer e good space in the 99er community ;)
