I spent a lot of time the week before last trying to beat electrician again. The last two levels in the last house are just too difficult. The last go I had I blew a dozen or so lives on these last two. The best go I had I got down to one level left. I give up! Great game though shame that the underground section is so tedious

yes, it's one of those games that seems just that bit too hard to complete - though it you still think it is possible.... good to play once in a while

2nd place, one better than last year! Can't help thinking that if some of the other

players got chance to play every round I would be a lot further down the table!

My final standing of 15'th place out of 52 places really surprised me. I figured I'd be in the lowest part of the final standings. Which, in a way I am. When I look closely at the list, I see that as it progresses downward, I notice that many people try their hand at the high score club for only a few games for one season (like me) before falling away. Is this typical?

I only played about 1/3 to 1/2 of the games this season. Yet, 15'th place is close to breaking the top ten... except then I look at the points in the top ten comapred to my total and I see that I'm SO far from there. I guess if I were to play every game this season it might be possible to break into the top ten by placing reasonably well on every game. Or maybe even just playing every game helps. Also, it seems like playing every year really helps too (unless I misunderstand what "total points" means).

Now I see how "therealbountybob" is winning; he's using stategy by playing every game every season. What a cheater! Let's throw him out of here!

Seems to be the case - I may be wrong ! but suspect some people are put off when there are few players by being towards the bottom end of the tables - it's a vicious circle. The more players we have the more (friendly) competition at all levels

We're down to a few regulars but the top 10 is a good target for everyone. Playing regularly helps as Sikor and roadrunner demonstrate, even with the odd game on each round. Towards the end of this season there were more points on offer we finished with a few double rounds as we were a little behind schedule, the last round was 3xpoints.

Rumbled! McKong ran it close again this year but if CaptainClasic gets onboard for the full season and with new player SHinJide, 8BIT 1337 and powersoft all capable of wins plus a bunch of you who can take points off the top players it will be closer. I can often be beaten but will average out and there are a few favourite games that I can load into the poll if I get too far behind... Gumball or Whistler's Brother anyone

I assumed it was when I joined (middle of the year) and set a goal for myself to crack the top 10, which I did eventually do (with maybe 3 rounds or so left in the season). I gathered the same thing as you - it's typical.

 

It might be interesting to have quarterly standings as well as yearly ones, see if that inspires players to stick around for 4-6 rounds if they can't make the whole season.

I think that is an excellent idea. One year does seem long a long time to participate in a contest, while three months seems much easier to handle. That would mean sticking around long enough to play six rounds. Sounds like a reasonable, subtle change that can be made without affecting the final yearly standings.
