Leanord286
Hello ! I got DM and CSB few months ago from flea market, I want to replay them on original hardware. Dungeon Master is my favorite games but I no longer have Atari for years. I just bought a 1040STF and replaced its floppy drive. Now I have problems with the mouse Left click is hard and right click doesn't work I disassembled the mouse to remove dust and check the microswitch and they worked with ohmmeter Now I reassembled it but I don't move, cursor don't move I move up, cursor move up I move down, cursor move down I move left, cursor move left I move right, cursor move left !!!!! It didn't happen before What is this ? Bad cable I checked the cable with ohmmeter nothing on pin 1 and 9 After playing around I discovered mouse can be simulated with Alternate + arrow keys
Justin Payne
I just opened my Atari mouse last night and checked all of the pins. They all register so I'd say that you can start with the bad cable. Also, is this an offical ST mouse or third party? Do you have access to another mouse? Does a joystick work fine in that port? I'm not sure what a new cable cost but new mice arn't expensive buy I like to troubleshoot everything before spending money.
+DarkLord
I think Brad at Best Electronics might sell a repair kit for original Atari mice... http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/accesori.htm#Mouse%20Plus Scroll down on that page. HTHs.
Justin Payne
$20 seems reasonable. I have seen mice for less but who knows what condition they're in. Another option is to buy a DB9 to usb adapter. It's not stock but I bet the performance is pretty good.
Leanord286
Thanks for your website I just tried a sega joystick, 4 directions and 2 buttons worked so it's the mouse that is faulty.
krupkaj
I think the best way is to buy Tavvva mouse adapter from Ctirad and use it with new optical mouse
