Think its my cable that is connected to my xrgb it has sync stripper on it. I ordered one that doesn't. But console works fine with s-video and composite. Thanks! I have questions regarding RGB on N64.Now, I recently purchased a modded N64 with RGB. It has an nus cpu 03 board and the seller claims he used the THS7314 with a dip8 adapter method. It arrived on Saturday and I was excited to use it. I have a fairly new 50 inch Samsung HDTV and I use this rare but affordable Chinese SCART to HDMI converter. It works great. It's featured in this video.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RS55pmLIEjAEven 32x games like Virtua Fighter look vibrant and crisp! The Sega Saturn looks excellent.Anyways, on to the issue. I attempt to plug this sucker in with my trusty UK SNES SCART cable, turn it on and...oh geez. It's dark and muddy. It reminds me of a slightly improved composite output, but really dark. A little like using a cheap S-Video cable on a bone stock N64. I was furious. Even Perfect Dark with its 640x480 option still looked blurry and dark. It absolutely baffles me that older 3D games like Virtua Fighter on the 32x or Nights on Sega Saturn look sooo much better. So naturally, I suspected either this wasn't modded with RGB at all or this guy just did a poor job. I'll admit, I don't know much about the actual installation process of RGB (Hence why I'm here), but something seems off.He claims that it'll vary from set up to set up. He also says that using an xrgb mini is the only way it'll look good. But I just get this hunch that it would at least look fairly decent with the current converter I use, with the reasons stated above. So the bottom line question is, did this guy do a poor job or do you really need to use an xrgb mini Framemeister? PAL cables have 75 ohm resistors and lack the 220uF caps that NTSC cables have. Your PAL cable on your NTSC N64 console could be your problem. I guess I was just slightly underwhelmed at first, but that could have been because of the following reasons. 1.) The LED modded controller he supplied with it wasn't working correctly 2.) The console had a cold smoky smell to it. So naturally, I was pissed and didn’t have time to evaluate comparisons. The seller has since agreed to fix the controller if I send it to him and claims he doesn’t smoke (must be a used console he modded). The end part of the video is what matters.I'm very interested in an xrgb mini, but got kind of scared away when I found out it has some input lag. I know most upscalers do and I'm aware the XRGB3 has a mode called B1 that supposedly has no input lag. How do you guys fair with it? It sucks enough when an HDTV already has input lag when you plug a console straight in the av. I was playing Mario Kart 64 and steering was a pain in the ass. The timing of my jumps on Super Mario 64 felt off too. I tried this on my Samsung HDTV and a Sony Bravia. Oddly enough, my best friend’s older Samsung HDTV doesn’t seem to have input lag as bad. Input lag has never been a problem for me, ever. Your TV, however, will interlace a 240p signal which will make it lag. It comes with a JP-21 RGB to 9 pin mini din adapter that can be used with JP-21 RGB cables. I have a write up on cables in post #1 of this thread, I don't want to get into recommending cables.
