+Allan
Does anybody know if you can limit how many systems show up in the list for MacMess? I'd like to have just one system show up when I run Mac Mess. It's a pain to have to scroll to the right system every time I run it. goldenegg
You can't restrict the listed systems, as it shows all systems supported by MESS. MacMESS is extremely outdated. You'll be better off using the latest SDLMESS release, along with a frontend like QMC2. http://qmc2.arcadehits.net/wordpress/ In QMC2, you can create a list of favourite systems, so you'll only have to see those you frequently use.

Thanks, Goldenegg, I'll check out SDLMESS and QMC2. Allan
goldenegg
Incase you aren't familiar with building MAME/MESS yourself, you can grab pre-compiled binaries here: http://sdlmame.lngn.net
Bakasama
Does this have anything to do with the Atari 7800?
+Allan
Does this have anything to do with the Atari 7800? Well, I wanted to just have Mess show the 7800 and not all the other systems. Allan
Bakasama
Like goldenegg said there are other options. SDLMESS is one. Running Prosystem through WINE is another. I use a WINE wrapper to run the Prosystem emulator on a Mac. If you're interested, I'll tell you how.

The Docs folder contains info on Mame but how to run Mess. The Mess program looks like a Command line program. Allan

Bakasama
Well, I consider it a lot easier to run than MESS of any flavor and I do know the Prosystem Emulator can run 7800 ROMs with POKEY sound. Mind this a PC emulator running as a Mac app. Edited March 10, 2014 by Bakasama

Allan The benefit of using MESS is that you have a single emulator supporting emulation of many platforms. If you only want to emulate one platform, there's no reason to use it. Just get ProSystem. Bakasama
This is what I use to run the Prosystem emulator on a Mac. http://wineskin.urgesoftware.com/tiki-index.php It's just pretty much making an Wineskin app and then putting the program in it.
