Sinphaltimus
My GoTek just arrived and DOH! I just placed an order for male header pins. I can't believe I don't have any laying around here. Needed to program...
RickyDean
so i email him? Send him an email worded something like this "What does it take to get the necessary items to convert a Gotek to use your firmware. I want to use my Gotek with a TI99/4a and want to get one of your drives for its big brother the Myarc Geneve later. " to hxc2001@hxc2001.com . He will respond and you go from there, Here is the one he sent me; "Hi, Just drop me 10 Euros per one device to jeanfrancoisdelnero@free.fr. +arcadeshopper
drive in hand programmed with bootloader programmed with normal mode firmware now for the display.. am I reading this right that I just connect 4 wires and hook up some resistors? oh here is a nice diagram: Greg
+arcadeshopper
and crappy documentation really pisses me off.. 1: power must be connected to the display driver pins 1 and 2. (not shown above in the diagram) 2: if you get a backlight and no words.. adjust the blue pot on the display driver board.. spent 20min checking everything twice to no avail before trying that 3: IT WORKS now to make it pretty
Sinphaltimus
Awesome, this is exactly what I plan to do this weekend. I was awaiting the male header pins to arrive for the programming port. They are here.

I drew that diagram up from the ASCII one I found in the firmware release notes. I'll have to add the power connections to the diagram. It's shown in one of the pictures that I posted, but it's a good idea to add it to the diagram too. Even after I figured all of that out, I almost soldered my LCD in backwards. That had nothing to do with the poor documentation of the Gotek, it was the poor documentation of the LCD module. I guess that's the flip side to the relatively cheap hardware. :/ Rich
Omega-TI
This is an interesting thread. Yes sometimes cheap hardware is not worth the hassle to some people, because of all the problems along the way. With that being said, it would be cool to see all this information eventually distilled down into a PDF document with photos and step by step instructions along EVERY step of the way. I imagine that could help quite a few people over the coming years.

It can go above the top in front or below the top behind the lcd. Pin one is not identified on the board just the lcd. Sinphaltimus
Just an fyi. Many changes to HxC for GoTek recently. I've been following this thread on English Amiga Board and it's been pretty active lately with updates. FYI. http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=78079&page=
