Problem with my copy of Microprose's Formula 1 Grand Prix

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the replies. It's a cracked copy. I will try ParanoidLittleMan's link and see what happens. Right now, I only know how to utilize disk images and not MSA files, and I am a technological novice.

MSA files are disk images too - actually little better than ST format. There is PC SW which can write MSA images onto floppies, and Atari SW exists too. Or may convert to ST with this for instance: http://atari.8bitchip.info/floimgd.php

Or, if you want one that'll install nicely to HD and actually allow you to load/save correctly from the in-game menus, and also use savestates, look here.

If you want one that does not need install to HD, just depacking/copy to your Atari hard disk, Flash card, then, one where you don't need to go online and seek what word to type in manual protection, go here: http://atari.8bitchip.info/SCRSH/f1gps.html

Will see that game menu save/load is supported , and even explained in usage :)

Of course, all this is a bit off topic, since here we have clear case of running game from floppy .

The link below probably works as well as the patch. But if its the one he butchered years ago, the intro is missing and probably some other stuff doesn't work too :P

Link probably works ? No, it works not, because forum editor again added some crap at the end of URL. But experienced people will fix it in seconds.

In any case I really don't think that there is problem to DL some of my stuff. And I added couple months ago simplified DL pages, optimized for Atari browsers.

"Butchered years ago" - actually, it is still based on what I done in 1992. No intro - and with intention. You don't need intro if want to play game for 33-th time. And I made version with intro too in meantime. Since I played it a lot in period 1992-1994, not from original (what I bought for 130 DEM), but my "butchery" - I may say with 100% confidence that nothing is missing.

Funny that every second post of C.J. here is spitting on my work. Really nothing better to do ?

I have for sure - and I started final release of Microprose F1 couple months ago. HAGA, including intro - but may start game directly, packed all game files, and as special gift hi-color animation seq. instead pic :)

URL for version with intro: http://atari.8bitchip.info/F1_GP.ZIP

So what you are saying is it took you 4+ goes to make it work properly still crash for people....

And yet the OP produced a row of bombs, and you still have yet to tell him how to make it work....

As for the link 'But experienced people will fix it in seconds.' - people who ask for help usually are not experienced.

I'd suggest he just download the ULS3.0 version and start playing, it's a lot less hastle than fucking around with your drivers and HOLE and other shit?

Typical perror after-sale support.

There is no EDIT possible some 20 minutes after posting, so I can not fix that stupid error. It is shame that forum admins did nothing to improve things - and was pointed on it already.

And for your info, C.J. OP talks not at all about my adaptation but about his floppy copy, what worked in past, and now not, what may be mostly because floppy data wearing/damage. So, please go in some dark room, and masturbate there instead online.

People using browsers, Internet are not experienced ? Must be that all forum members are newbies :)

There is no sale, but there are many hints for how using it. There are forums, e-mail, so I may say that I gave proper help for anyone who wanted help, and not just to be negative. All this with hard disk adaptations is not just DL-ing and playing games. it was process of experimenting, developing better and better system, more compatible, and couple people helped me with computers and other HW, WEBspace, financially, and many helped morally.

There is lot of games on hard disk, expecting to finish them. And main problem is testing - there are games which need lot of time for playing. So, better would be to talk about how to organize it - as example of using forums for something constructive.
