pixelmischief
My Falcon is a UK model. It's a pain in the 455 to type on. I can't get a backslash. Nothing is where I expect it to be. Will replacing the keyboard with a US keyboard be enough? Do I need to try to swap it with a US Falcon to get the desired effect? Are there any really good reasons to suffer through it for the sake of other game related benefits?
Umberto
I don't think there is a difference between the two keyboards, just in the nvram settings centek wrote a great nvram configure program http://centek.online.fr/atari/softs/softmenu.htm
Fletch
I have a US Falcon with a UK Keyboard. The US keyboard was a hodgepodge of colors and the only new Falcon keyboard I could find was a UK model. The previous owner had combined an ST keyboard with a Falcon one. It worked fine and looked ok, but I just wanted it to look stock. Took me a couple of days to get used to, but now its no issue for me. Any old ST keyboard, other than the original 520ST model will work just fine with your Falcon if you have one. If you cannot find one, I have the mixed ST/Falcon one I might be able to part with. pixelmischief
I don't think there is a difference between the two keyboards, just in the nvram settings Well, there's definitely SOME difference. I've got UK pounds keys on it, and the quotation marks are in different places. And, as I said, I can't get a backslash out of it, which is infuriating when trying to type out file paths; this despite the fact it HAS a backslash key, albeit in the wrong place. But I think I'll try that NVRAM think. If that doesn't work, I'll take the keyboard out of my 1040STe and see if it works. If it does, I'll buy a replacement. ParanoidLittleMan
Keyboards are identical, except caps. Which are removable, replaceable In case of Falcon there is support for diverse language key tables in ROM, so which will be active depends on NVRAM setting. ilaskey
Welcome to the UK's problem, all our PCs do that in reverse until we set the keyboard to UK from the default US one.
