Pixelboy
I just went from Windows XP to Windows 8.1 a few days ago. I installed blueMSX and it works well, except that the screenshot saving feature seems to have stopped working. From what I could determine, Windows 8 doesn't allow users (or even running programs) to write anything under the "C:\Program Files" folder, including blueMSX's home directory under that folder. So blueMSX cannot create the "Screenshots" folder in its home directory. Has anyone been able to find a fix to this problem in Windows 8/8.1, aside from messing with folder security settings that I really shouldn't be messing around with? I did manage to create a proper "Screenshots" folder manually with some tinkering, but blueMSX doesn't seem to be able to write anything in it. This is really a deal-breaker for me, I absolutely NEED to be able to snap screenshots with blueMSX, so I hope someone here can help. Pixelboy
Never mind, I found where blueMSX now puts the screenshots and other local files on my PC: C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\blueMSX Hope this helps others, at least... Pixelboy
Actually, Win 8.1 is really not that bad. It boots up in just a few seconds (cold boot) and it didn't take me very long to customize the Desktop to get the basic equivalent of what I had under Windows XP. My only real gripe is with the scrollbars which are too pale (I found a way to fix this in Internet Explorer, but not my other applications) and the Personalization interface (under the Control Panel) is infuriating. I also hate how sometimes a Windows feature activates the Metro interface and there's no obvious way to exit that interface and return to the Desktop. But these are really minor gripes, for the most part I'm happy with Win 8.1.

I recently changed it to Win7 I'm quite happy with Win7 I must say

Same thing as Windows 7 and Vista.

If I managed to run blueMSX with administrator priviledges, it would still place its generated files in that other location. I created a folder shortcut which I placed in the Team Pixelboy folder on my PC, which points directly to that new location, so no more waste of time. You have to run programs as administrator if you want to save to the program directory. You can have programs save to other directories such as Documents or Music without that problem.
