+Rick Reynolds
Years ago as I was surfing around I found an Intellivision website that I can't seem to find anymore. I remember that it posted some ideas for games and/or products for the Intellivision that the author wanted to exist. Specifically, I remember s/he had a concept screen shot of many running men all over the screen reenacting the scene from the 2nd Matrix movie where Neo fights all the Smiths. Anyway, another idea picture on that site was a controller design that I'd love to find again. Basically, it was a modern-ish game controller that replaced the d-pad on the left with the Inty disc, put the 12-key keypad in the middle of the controller, and had action buttons on the right side. Does anyone remember that picture and/or writeup? Does anyone have a copy of it? I'd love to see that again. Rick

Rick Rick, Are you sure it wasn't a Jaguar controller, perhaps with an Inty disc mounted over the D-pad? At least one person has taken on that project in the past: http://www94.pair.com/jsoper/jag_adapter.html —Joe

+Rick Reynolds
Nope it wasn't either of these. It was just a photoshopped image of someone's idea.
+Rick Reynolds
This sounded cool so I searched and searched but found nothing. Can you remember anything else? The site had a few pages of "someone needs to make this game" kinds of concepts. I mentioned the Matrix game with the Intellivision running men. I'm trying to shake loose some other memories - I think there were something like 4 game concepts with fake screen shots.

Perhaps this was all a hallucination, Rick... in which your perceived reality of these devices is actually a simulated Inty-reality? Just sayin'...

+nurmix
http://www.intellivisionbrasil.com/Hardware_Joystick.htm I think you are looking for this Intellivision controller. That looks like a recipe for a very sore left wrist. The amount of leverage you could create with that thing would limit play to about 5 minutes, I would guess... +BBWW
http://img.xataka.com/2013/01/AtariJaguar.jpg Some one made an adaptor to use these for an Intellivision. You may also be thinking about these controllers for Colectovision? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ef/Super_Action_Controller_Coleco_DSCF0353.JPG Also found something called Alpha-Omega Project that has Keypad in center and two thumb (One on each side) and other assorted buttons. I'm too lazy to upload the photo. Edited April 12, 2014 by BBWW

+Rick Reynolds
intvdave found it! That's the picture I was thinking of! Thanks David. If you have a larger, more detailed version of it, I'd love to have that. Regardless, this version gets the idea. +Rick Reynolds
Yeah, I think that would be a hard sell in today's market. Everything has gone to the left side for d-pad control. I'd like to see the original with a 16-way d-pad instead of the disc. Also, I would want to be able to have dip switches (or some mechanism) to control the mapping of the three buttons to the three action buttons on the inty controller. Sometimes, I'll feel differently about which is the "dominant" button than what the game designer might have decided.

There's just something about "left-disc-ing" on an Intellivision game that's akin to putting your pants on backwards then driving a car with the steering wheel on the right, backwards. My brain won't likely adapt!
wolfy62
My preferred [FIXED] version: That looks so cool. and although I am left handed this would still work great for me!
+JasonlikesINTV
I've played too many FPS on PC. Left handed direction control is engrained in my brain. Dual analog discs could be fun.
NumbThumb
I saw this Moga controller and it reminded me of Nurmix mockup image, and lo and behold, there was a thread about it... I just had to play around with this idea a little more. I love mocking up… Not sure how expensive a new controller would be and if there is any interest, but I guess you could at least make an inquiry by sending images like thesewith specifications and whatnot to alibaba.com for example. I am pretty sure that someone can manufacture it. And hypothetically, if a new controller were to be made, would it be possible to make it compatible with both the original consoles and the Flashback? I suppose just one or the other? And speaking of the Flashback and controllers, how about a Flashback Wico Command Control?I am thinking as a “sold separately” product for the Flashback.I love the disc for many games (well I do not have that many games but anyways) but mostarcade-style games are just made for being played with a classic joystick. Just a thought. Edited April 18, 2015 by NumbThumb

NumbThumb
That looks cool. Get a price! Well I would if I could, but I am just a provider of a general design idea here. It is up to you guys who know how the controllers actually work to make the actual inquiry… Provide all the technical specs necessary. And perhaps send them an Inty controller to disassemble. In short: The better input, the better output. My feeling is that it will not be extremely expensive. The Chinese can provide anything these days and at descent cost and low quantities. But hey, if you can make it US made or German made that would be preferred... By the way, I am sure you can make an inquiry for cartridges also...
