The GNU Octave team has released a beta version of the new graphical user interface recently, and it's quite nice indeed! I just compiled version 3.8.1 yesterday, but it took a spot to figure out how to start the GUI (add the option '--force-gui' ) . I attached a couple of screen shots in the ZIP file .
