This is one of the pools to vote the best games ever for Intellivision :-)

The will be several pools of 5 titles each to cover the following categories:

- Best game of all time

- Best sport game

- Best shoot'em up

- Best arcade conversion

- Best producer

Sport and shoot'em up have a specific category because of the many representative titles.

Arcade games have a specific category since it was a must of that time to port games from the arcade to console, and I remember all the magazines evaluating the power of the consoles by comparing the conversions :-)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

80s was the moment for so many classic arcades, and INTV contributes with some good conversions, but not all the famous hits took advantage of the power of this console, so it will be difficult to imagine which one can be considered the best.

It has to be said that the competitor Atari got many more licenses that the intv user whised to see (asteroids, moon patrol, battlezone, galaxian, jungle hunt, ms pac man, etc. etc.)

All the companies (including Mattel!) have secured arcade licenses, even if Coleco and Parker basically based ALL their portfolio on that.

So I post here titles from all brands.

While all the other games are extremely famous, Locomotion is a fun, challenging and playable title that I guess many people do not know about.

I looooove Locomotion. However, I didn't know it was an arcade port until a few years ago, when I read it on the BSR website.

Hmmm... Is this poll for the "Best Arcade Game Of All Times" for Intellivision, or "Best Arcade Port Of All Times"? I ask because, I could play Locomotion for days, trumping any of the others, but Pac-Man and DK Jr. are rather faithful to the originals, so they may be better ports.

So, just to be sure, we should vote for what we feel is the Best Game among these, not the port closest to the original, right? I ask because, for instance, Mousetrap may be very faithful, but even the original was kind of lame compared to something like Pac-Man.

we shou.d vote for what is the best game, as the game will also be compared with the other most voted overall

Wow. I don't even know if I can answer this one yet. This is by far the toughest for me. As it turns out Locomotion is fifth on my list amongst these titles. Hmmmm. I'm going to have to think further on this one. I've actually played all of the other four very recently......

Tough cookie this pol as there are great games here.

I voted for Pac Man as it was a great port and played very well. The inclusion of arcade intermissions rounded up a great game.

At the time, it was a dream come true to have the arcade experience at home.

If there is a tie in this group then both games should move on. Doesn't kill the competition to have one group in the next round with 6 games instead of 5.

Yah maybe the group sizes can get smaller as we go on so there will be more battles. This is fun. :)

cmart, how dare you not be a fan of soccer:-) I went with Pac-Man because I didn't have as a kid and only got in 1992 and was pretty impressed with the game/port. It was tough for me though as I like Dig Dug very much as well - would've been my 2nd choice. I really need to play locomotion one day - never really tried that one. Haven't played Q*bert or DK Jr. in a while but like 1st 2 I mentioned more.

maybe we can consider to move to round 2 the first AND second voted titles of each pool when the difference is only 3 or less votes... see what people think about that...

That could be good, but If they are just going to face each other again then no. Decisiveness is good - although possibly anti-climactic

Kinda like the goal diff at the end of a tied UEFA series. It decides who wins but doesn't provide any additional action. Still a valid way to decide though.

You could create a group of 2nd place finishers that are worthy and have them possibly face each other. Then one of those could pop into the final.

I like this idea a lot: wild cards (or carts?)

Wild cards may become Dark Horses… who knows...

Locomotion is a great conversion and game, and it actually inspired my own puzzle game 'Turky on the Run', but in the end I voted for.... QBert! ;)

Wow, that's hard to believe -- when looked at out of context. But this is one of the absolutely toughest groups.

i'm considering discarding the 2nd in the atlantis pool (that got only 3 votes so far) to give a chance to the 3rd of this group... what you think?
